Myspace Discussion Group For HIV & AIDS
« on: December 19, 2006, 05:30:41 am »
Hello,

One of our members recently directed me to this site which I like a lot with such a vast array of topics.   I'm also HIV+ and saw a need for a group much like this on the internet as well.

Anyways, here is the link to the group.  We have around 300 members now and well over 100 topics started so if you have a Myspace account feel free to stop in or join if you choose.

Here is the link to Straight Talk About HIV & AIDS on Myspace:   http://groups.myspace.com/StraightTalkAboutHIVAIDS

If you are having difficulty here is the link to my own profile:  http://www.myspace.com/wesleyinaustin

I monitor it daily to keep out advertisers etc., but I will definitely be here as well to read through some great information.

Hi Wesley and welcome to the forum!

I've moved this thread out of Nutrition where you originally posted it, into the Living forum where you'll get more responses.

Welcome. I see from your MySpace stuff that you're into AIDS activism, holistic and conventional health, nutrition and weight management so I think we'll learn alot from you and you'll learn a lot from us too. We love to share and laugh a lot here

Hiya, Wesley!  Thanks!

Tim

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the friendly welcome and also to the moderator who put my topic in it's proper place ;)   Yeah, I'm a bit of an advocate.  I hadn't known about this particular forumn before.   I am glad to have found it as well.    Also glad that people are open about sharing websites and information and opinions freely.   Other groups I have run across have been very secretive or seclusioned or just completely dysfunctional.   That's why I did start my own.   But so far this one seems like a great resource to me.

Just a quick question: does it cost money to get to this particular site? I'm unfamiliar with "myspace" - when I came on here today - i'm new here - I was worried it wouldn't be a forum I'd like - but so far, I'm liking the wide range of people and ideas! It is a bit overwhelming, though - so many different interesting topics!

And a few of the guys pictures are quite cute, too!! (:

No,  Myspace is entirely Free.   There are over 140 million people on Myspace now worldwide.   It's free to start a group as well.   The group I run is set to private to keep out troublemakers, but anyone can join.   You just have to be invited by a member or send me a request.

The only thing you have to have is a Myspace profile.   It doesn't take long to set one up.

Hi Wesley,

I'm a member of your myspace group, and was also at the gathering Saturday evening.  I just assumed y'all knew about this forum, but evidently that was an incorrect assumption.

Welcome!

Hello Wesley!

It is GOOD to hear from you as well as the invitation as well. It is GOOD to interact with others because there is so much that can be learned from each other. I also have a myspace account and I will send you a freind request as well.

In my own way, I wish to extend to you a WARM WELCOME here at the AM forums. Here you will find the encouragement, communication, understanding, support, some cries, some laughter, and many of your questions relating to HIV/AIDS answered.

Truly, it is a diffcult health situation to accept. However, it is strongly recommended that you Deal rather than Dwell on what has occurred. This will help tremendously to cope with what has occurred with your health.

The Handshake Of Reassurance

We have a great group of Real People who will listen as well as answer you. We are here to Encourage, Learn, and Help one another as we all walk on our journey in this life.

With the consideration of implementing a Positive Mental Attitude, it will also assist you on your journey in this life as well as having a Positive Impact on your immune system and your overall health.

In fact, through your Positive Mental Attitude, it will help you push forward through ALL of the obstacles on your path that you are now walking on.

Talking and sharing our experiences with other people helps us see that we are not the only ones with problems. Feel free to come and vent with whatever is on your mind from time-to-time.

Often the act of writing and the ability to “SEE” your feelings leads to therapeutic insights and solutions..

In the interim, you may want to start taking a multi-vitamin, and some Omega 3, because it is all up to YOU where YOU want to be.

Exercise at least three times per week for a minimum of 30 minutes per day, as this will do you good to help keep that unnecessary stress away.

"Don't Give Up, Don't Give In... Cause it is ALL within you to WIN!"

Hey Henry & Beers also ;)

No, I hadn't known about this forumn.   But it's definitely a small world ;)   So, I found some various topics of interest here as well.   I still like Myspace too though.    It's funny though if you aren't used to it or new it seems cumbersome intially.

Well, this should be interesting to see how many other people I know pop in ;)

Popped in on your MySPace earlier & sent one o' them friend requesty things.  I'm not the most MySpace savvy guy around.

And I just noticed today (after nearly a month) that Beers had popped my MySpace 'cherry'.
