Atripla Works for me!
« on: January 22, 2010, 11:08:00 am »
Just wanted to give a quick update:

I started Atripla on Dec 12, 2009. Take it every 10 PM. Only side effects are the dreams. No biggie.

VL; 13826
CD4 370 16%

Had blood drawn on Jan 7th:

VL: 130
CD4: 372 17%

Doc says that is pretty good since it's been 3 short weeks but I need to wait awhile before I see some increase in my CD4's but she thinks Atripla is working!

My next blood drawn will be April 2010.
Any thoughts?

Thanks

Pretty damn good for 3 weeks! You should start to see your CD4's increase as your Vl continues to decrease
Yes, Atripla rocks!

Congrats! Good luck!

Congrats, NYKat!  That is a quick decline.  I only had one friend complain about Atripla.  Everyone else loves it.

I have been blessed with great results from Atripla also...and I actually like those occasionally bizarre dreams.  Given the retail price of the prescription (jaw dropping) I guess I am glad they don't charge extra for the psychedelic effects!

about a month and 1/2 into Atripla and I still have dreams every now and then -- don't really remember them when I wake up -- but one of my pillows is always on the floor -- which never happened, so I know I am dreaming and when it is happening i know it is --- still I love the atriiipla..... anything that keeps me alive.  :-)

I never did dream very much but my daydreaming ran the gauntlet of weirdness.  Since starting Atriple I've been having all sorts of weird dreams the first of which involved David Spade in a gay bar taping a work out video.  (I fell asleep watching "Just Shoot Me" which then turned into an infomercial for some workout machine).

Nice improvement on that viral load, Kat.  Congrats.

I think I had my first atripla nightmare last night (so far I had just had really funky dreams that I sort of enjoyed)... this one involved a helicopter dropping recently decapitated heads, realising that I was in the year 2030 and things had gone really haywire, and then some dude breaking into my house trying to kill me and my family (I kept on looking for a knife, but kept on finding only plastic-ware).  It was one of those dreams when you wake up and fall asleep again only to continue.  Maybe I shouldn't have had those mojitos a couple of hours before my pill.

If any of you guys are paying more than a $50 co-pay on your Atripla I have a card that will pay anything after the first $50 up to $200.  I don't know of any insurance carriers that have it this way, but if any of you are paying a high co-pay I would be happy to mail it to you for free (meaning I'll foot postage).

I can't use it because my 3 month co-pay is $30 and I am going off Atripla as soon as I am done with this  bottle.

The card also works with mail order pharmacies .

Excellent numbers.  I've had a good experience with atripla as well.  I went undetectable in only a few weeks and after 4.5 months my CD4 doubled.  I switched to take it in the morning with no problems and I sleep better.  Good luck and keep us posted.
tested positive June 19, 2009
7/3/09 vrl 9000 cd4 - 300
8/14/09 cd4 - 350, 20%
started Atripla 9/14/09

Congrats NewYorkKat !

For your info, I started as follow:

Before Atripla:     CD4 = 550 CD4% = 17.7% VL = 450
After one month: CD4 = 477 CD4% = 19.5% VL < 40
Today (+1 year): CD4 = btw 844-1025 CD4% = 27% VL <20

So as you see, a month after having started Atripla, my CD4 went down a bit, and the CD4% increase slightly by 1.8%. And a year after, I am still UD, almost doubled my CD4 and get almost 10% more on my CD4%.

I hopes you will enjoy very soon spectacular improvement.

Best wishes
John
