dosage of truvada, reyataz, & norivr
« on: October 23, 2006, 12:51:19 pm »
???   i am pretty new to this board but in what i have seen i think this board could be a savior for me.  when i first started treatment my tcells were 5, my viral load 150,000 and i was hospitalized with pcp.  my doc first put me on truvada & viramune but after 3 months of treatment there were no changes in my lab.  that was a devastating blow.  i am now on truvada, reyataz & norvir.  now here is the question.  i read that truvada & reyataz are once a day.  but my doc has me take one truvada daily, one reyataz 150mg with a norivir 100mg in the morning and then  again at night.  i am just looking to see if there is anyone else out there that is one this regimen or knows of anyone else taking it.  i have to say that i feel 100 % better after a month and a half of treatment.  my appetite is better than when i was in puberty.  i look forward to hearing from you all.  thanks in advance.

Reyataz is best used boosted with a small dose of Norvir because it gives better results long-term. The standard, approved dosing is 300mg Reyataz (2 x 150 mg capsules) + 100 mg Norvir (1 egg) once a day, all in one go, with food (containing some fat).

Sometimes 200mg Norvir is used, but really this is only necessary for a small number of people where measurement of drug levels indicates the amount of Reyataz in the bloodstream is below par with 100mg Norvir.

So, I think yr doc should either (A) explain the odd dosing (B) read the Reyataz prescribing info.

i just thought that i would give you an update.  i went to the doc about 2 weeks ago & asked for an explanation of the odd dosing of my meds.  he explained that it was not that odd just a different way that some are prescribing the combo.  told me i could take it in one does or the two.  i had my blood work done.  i just got the results today.  in just 2 months my vl went from 300,000 to undectectabe & my cd4 from 5 to to 65!  after fighting pnemocystis & cmv retinitis this is rexcellent news.

thanks for all of the support and info.

I think you're finding this an incredibly effective regimen.  It certainly has worked for me

But I don't see any point in extending the Reyataz doses  I take all of mine (1 truvada, 2 reyataz and 1 norvir) at the same time, in the morning just before breakfast.
