Title: extremely scared
Post by: petermru on September 19, 2010, 09:55:54 am
Hi to all administrators and thank you for the extremely good job you are doing.

In 2008, i had two briefs vaginal intercourse and i cant remember if i used condom or not.
I had vaginal sexual intercourse with a sex worker in singapore on 22 may 2010. HOwever, ithe scary part is that i dont remember using condoms.

Everything was fine until i had a dry cough which lasted about 1 week. the cough started sometime in 23 june. Then few days later i had kinda a rash on both my legs ...only near my ankles. It was kinda itchy. At first i thought they were mostquito bites...but now thinking about it..i get even more scared.

I know symptoms are not reliable indicators of HIV but still.

My questions are:
1. how is hiv rash?
2. how riisky is performing oral sex on a woman?

I have been reading this forum a lot and i can this forum is very helpful.

I'm scared since i will be settling down with my girlfriend very soon and i dont want to  get her infected in case i got infected.

Thank you for your replies.

There's a very simple solution to your quandary and in fact it is the only reliable one: get tested for HIV.

I say that not because I expect you to test positive. Your memory and details are too sketchy to make a guess. And HIV status is something you ought never to guess about. But since you may have had unprotected intercourse, get tested.

HIV is harder to pass from female to male than the other way around. You had one possibly risky incident so the odds are way in your favor that you will test negative. As for giving oral, your saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV if it is present.

Get tested. I expect you will come out of this ok. It is pointless to (guess) discuss symptoms and ARS would not even be worth discussing this long after the acts you are talking about.

Good luck with your test. Keep us posted.

Oh yes, and until you and your gf have been tested together and gotten negative results, you should be using condoms for vaginal and anal intercourse. Only when a securely monogamous couple have reliably tested negative together can they decide about not using condoms.

Hi all,

I finally got hold of myself and went for anonymous hiv screening in singapore yesterday. The test consisted of Blood testing. The  finger was pricked to get a few drops of blood for the HIV-antibody test strip.  The results is obtained in 15 mins and it was negative. The doctor said it is a clear negative since there is only one line on the strip.
My last sexual encounter was in may...and yesterday hiv test was done almost 4 months after the sex encounter.

Am i right to say that hiv test is conclusive?

Do i need to go for the oral test?

After the hiv test i was very relieved and i decided to go for a syphillis test. It came out negative as well.

Can i say i dont have hiv despite some of the symptoms im having?

I'm planning to go for a full std test tomorrow,

Thanks

Yes, you are HIV negative. Period. No further testing is necessary.

If your symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV. Period.
