extremly worried... it is ruining my life
« on: September 05, 2012, 08:01:50 am »
Hello... I have made the biggest mistake of my life... had unprotected anal sex on 15th November 2011... since the time I had no symptoms... and I didnt even realise what a danger happened... I started to think about HIV infection after reading some news in the internet... (no im not paranoid i was in real risk) I talked to the guy later... and he assured me he tested negative for HIV. I started to be really anxious and extremly stressed. I was a body with no spirit inside. I felt strange... then I developed first symptoms... being tired... and oral thrush which I was really anxious about. It happened in like February 2012... i wanted to know if I was infected or not. I didnt want to... and I dont want to live in ,uncertainty,. I took HIV 1/2 INSTI rapid test. Manufactured in Canada, which is told to be very accurate in its results. I got negative results. My test was done on 20th March (4 months and 5 days after my risk situation) The results helped me a little... but there was still an imagination in my head... doctors say 6 weeks is usually enought and 3 months is final and conclusive... but I was still worried... due to my symptoms of course... red eyes, white coated tongue... felt unwell still. I decided to retest on 23th April 2012 (5 months and one week, 150days) on laboratory blood work HIV 1,2 Antibody + P24 fourth generation test. The result was negative again. I felt really relaxed and tried to move on. I am only 19 years old, it ruined my hobbies, ambitions, i felt very, very very nervous and anxious. I was, of course happy about my negative results, promised myself never do the same mistake, to sleep with random person... never to have sex in any party anymore... It was a big lesson... now it is September 2012... and I am getting strange symptoms again, extremly itchy skin... random folliculitis in the body :( of course... my google results common in people infected with HIV... when I remember my symptoms in the spring this year, and connect it to these symptoms, it is strange. Do you think It can have some other cause... I was a healthy, happy boy before. Im stuck in the idea of being infected again. I was diagnosed by dermatologist, she wasnt sure whats going on, she was like... it can be due to many reasons and i got some corticoid cream. She was just sure it is not scabies, as it doenst look like that. She thinks it might be eczema with irritated hair follicules. Very unpleasant, and so was my oral thrush problem. Something must ,weak, my body. My skin is extremly itchy... I also get runny nose more often than before. Please, has anyone similar experinces? What chronic illnes could I have... and what should i test for... or maybe retest for HIV? Is there a chance my HIV DUO after 21 weeks is negative if I had the problem? I was reading this forum, thanx for making this good site. I am really desperate... :( i would love to enjoy my days again...  :( thanx for your kind answers folks

Boy,

Whatever is going on with you has absolutely NOTHING to do with hiv. You do NOT have hiv. You have (more than) conclusively ruled hiv out of the picture.

Instead of googling your symptoms (which are NOT hiv specific), keep working with your doctor to get a real diagnosis. Stop playing doctor with yourself and google and go see a real one.

You need to learn from this experience and stop having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse. You can have as much sex as you want or can get with as many people as you like, and provided you ALWAYS use condoms regardless of what they tell you about their hiv status, you will remain hiv negative.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

You do NOT have hiv!!!

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
