Title: forgetfulness
Post by: Paulette on September 21, 2007, 04:42:38 pm
The other day my sister told me that i told her the same thing about six or seven times, She asked why i was doing that. And i would smoke a cigarette and wouldn't remember smoking it, and then that night i took two truvada, one reyataz, and one norvir. Well that's not the way I'm to take them. it's one truvada, two reyataz, and one norvir. well needless to say i was one the phone to the poison control (because nothing like this has ever happened to me before, so i wasn't so sure what it would do or even what to do.) well ever thing turned out okay, but it has got me wondering, i can't remember any thing unless i write it down, and lately I've been misspelling simple words(thank-god for spell check). and all this with a constant headache. it has gotten worse over the past four/five months.  I'm wondering if this could be due to the new meds that I'm now on and have been since Feb2007. i really like them cause my numbers are great undetectable/843. is anyone else experiencing the same thing? and i have a rash on my back and side's that itch and hurts (had it for over a month now. anyone have any ideas or are going through the same thing? ???

Paulette,

This rash, is it on one side of your back, wrapping around to the side? If it is, it could be shingles and you really should show it to a doctor. You can read about shingles in the Shingles Lesson. (http://www.aidsmeds.com/articles/Shingles_6796.shtml)

I get headaches quite a bit, but I'm not on the meds yet. Sometimes they're migraines and I take something called sumatriptan for them. Please talk to your doctor about the headaches as well. Something like chronic headaches needs to be investigated.

Hugs,
Ann

Definitely investigate the rash.  As far as I know, people can get shingles no matter where their numbers are at.  My aunt, who's negative, got it from being around my cousin who had the chickenpox.  About the migraines, I used to get them.  I don't get them anymore, at least not to the extent I got them a year ago.  I think with me, though, it was stress and needing a new glasses prescription.  So when my eyesight was taken care of, they disappeared.

About the memory, you know, I can think of something I want to tell someone and then five minutes later I can't for the life of me remember what it was.  That's why I play Jeopardy on the nights I'm not in school-I'm trying to keep my mind sharp and together.  I think with me, it's just a matter of getting older, sometimes too much stress etc.  But yes, it does happen.  You know, about your meds, you might want to invest in one of those med boxes and pour them a week ahead of time.  That's what I do.  If I didn't, God knows how many times I would repeat doses.  Just a suggestion.

Have you been under more stress than usual over the past four/five months? That can also contribute greatly to forgetfulness. And, this sort of forgetfulness is, in my way of thinking, different than forgetting to pay a bill, or arrive for an appointment.

As I've gotten older, this mode of forgetting to whom and how many times you've said something is, regrettably, part of the aging process, too. It invites self-criticism and doubt.

On a lighter note, I figure I'm being paid back for every time in my youth when I sassily said to someone my senior. " You TOLD me that already!"

Relax a bit. See if it's situational, organic or a combination. Run it by your doc especially all of the symptom. Shingles was the first thing I thought of regarding your rash and for me, shingles came with stress.

Thanks to all for the advise. And I've tried the pill box once and almost got into some serious trouble over it , here in Ga. it's illegal to carry prescriptions outside their original containers.  And yes i have been under alot of stress for the past month. and having alot of anxiety/panic attacks as well. good thing for xanax ;D  also yeah i do forget to pay the bills and even forgot my mammogram appointment, i had my eyes checked and they said i have glaucoma(which explains some of the headaches, but not all)
 thank you all again  ;)

You know, Xanax contributes to memory problems.  I remember reading that from when I was on it and getting all scatter-brained.  And why would you have to carry the pill box with you?  Can't you leave it at home?   Of course, I don't know your situation.  It's probably not legal here in Indiana to carry pills like that either.  I don't carry any pills with me though.  They're all at home.

What can they do for the glaucoma that you have in your eyes?

I already take a drug called marinol ( I'm up to 10mg 2X's aday) but that's to increase my appetite, and the only drug known to treat glaucoma is prescription pot( which I'm already on) i also use drops to keep the eyes dilated which helps releave some of the pressure behind the eyes, and i take loratab10 for the pain.  sometimes i just feel like a lab rat, that they don't know how to treat, except for doping me up. which i hate, but you have to do whatever it takes .  thanks for asking.

The rash I would check out with your doctors..Could be stress, if its really painful could be shingles.......
.
I had a rash on my back for years..It would come and go, but always on the same spot.
So when I was at my Dr's..I had the rash that day, so I showed her..
She said it was herpes ???......... I never even knew herpes could be on your back.
Thought, it had to be on your lips or private areas............so they game me some pills
and it went away..

BRAIN FARTS :-[ I have them a number of times.. I forget and my friends call Me REPEAT. :(  I use to say, I hope iam nothing like my father when I get older, and here I
am repeating stories just like my dad..

I believe its all the pills over the years..Keeps ya in a brain fog.
I try to do crossword puzzles to sharpen my mind..I heard this helps..

Anyway girlfriend your not alone here..But do check out what the rash is  on your
neck..
I never thought my rash was important, because it came and went..But then Ive had
it for years and it was odd that it would always come back in the exact same spot..
Come to find out..It was Herpes.. :-[ I never knew that my little repeated rash could be
herpes at all..Had no clue..So go to see your doctor..
It could alot of things, but ya don't know till you go...Advise..GO :-*
