HIV test .... need a little clarification...should i be dancing or not?

I had 2 semi exposures recently.

1. had major make out session and naked grinding with a chic on her period. 16 weeks ago. (Januray 15th, 2007)

2. did cociane 12 weeks ago at night club and may have shared rolled up bill with someone. (February 9, 2007)

I got tested at 12 week (may 4 2007) mark by EIA AB HIV 1 at a referral service service. They sent me to a quest lab. Results- non reactive ( negative)

I just found out that i was NOT tested for HIV2. Should i be worried? should i retest for HIV 2.

Those arent semi exposures.  Those are NON exposures.  You do not need to retest over those incidents.  Read through the lessons in the welcome thread to find out how HIV is actually transmitted.

Neither of those incidents put you at risk for HIV. Period.

In general we do recommend that anyone who is sexually active should do a full STD panel at least annually. And every six months is even better especially if very active sexually.

As far as these two incidents are concerned you don't have anything to worry about in terms of HIV transmission.

Dance you good thing. You're HIV negative. None of the things you did are a risk for HIV. And no you don't have to worry about HIV2.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

And just a side-note, you'd be wise to never share straws or similar for snorting drugs. While it is NOT a risk for hiv infection, there is increasing evidence that hepatitis C may be passed on this way. If you feel you need to, you can test for hep C now (for the incident you describe here) for a conclusive result.

thanks all....i was confident with my results. I did them only for peace of mind.

It was only once i read about HIV 2 that i was nervous.

I am going to test for hep c and then also get the hiv 2 out of the way at the same time.

now i am back........hep c came back Negative...15 weeks. Is that enough???
