Title: My new old computer center.
Post by: wolfter on September 11, 2012, 09:47:30 pm
I have a solid cherry entertainment center that I had custom built several years ago (before flat screens became readily available).  He was a master craftsman and built it perfectly to my specs.  I could close it up and not have to look at a hideous tv screen.  I'm not a big tv person.  Well, I no longer needed this pice of furniture but needed to do something with it.  I think it turned out pretty well.

And when I'm done, I can close up all the clutter.  I built the insert and added sliding shelves for the computer and printer. I also built the little side table as a complete work station.

Is that a make-up mirror on your bedside table, wolfie?

Guess I'm busted.  I actually needed the magnifying part of it during my blindness but now find it quite useful for primping.  I should have removed that before taking the picture.  Don't want to loose my masculine manly man status. ;D

Nice job.
Make sure that cabinet isn't heating up if you got medicine in there.

I have to ask, however -- so what are you doing with your television now?

My room is always cold, I continue to suffer overheating very easily so that's not a problem.  Guess I didn't realize how obvious that medicine shelf is.  I might make that a pull out shelf also.

These entertainment centers were constructed with the thought of flat screens.  My new flat screen looked really goofy in it so I had no choice to mount it on the wall.

I haven't had a TV for 5 years since my ex took the nice old SONY.  Every year I go once to the electronics store and look at all these gorgeous flat screens but I get overwhelmed by the choice and the prices and walk away empty handed.

@mecch unless your a total tv geek which i am not. You can get a nice flat screen for less than 300 bucks.  I went to Best Buy the other day for a computer part I needed and they had some really nice ones for 229.00 and they were 32 inch screens.  I bought one two years ago for upstairs and its hdtv ready and I have had no issues.

Very first thing that drew my eye as well.
