Damn, I have some hot ass cousins in WVA that I wouldn't mind being "engaged" to.  I guess gay marriage between cousins will be a long time off. ;D

Well there ya go . Alabama isn't completely intolerant because you can marry your first cousin here . Somehow I don't feel like celebrating .

It's quite legal to marry one's first cousin down here too. Provided he or she is of a different gender to oneself.

That said, I have the feeling that fag marriage is set to become legal here in Australia. The last great stumbling block to this rather dubious token of equality, the Australian Labor Party, looks set to change it's policy position later this year.

The state conferences of the Party in three states have all resolved to call on the national conference of the Party to reverse the marriage ban when it meets in December. The state conference of the New South Wales Branch meets this weekend and it is expected that a similar call will be made there.

In the interests of transparency I will be a delegate to state conference on the weekend and I will be voting to support a change in policy, despite my long opposition to marriage of any sort.

I've heard you can marry your cousin on the Isle of Man.

In fact, I've also heard that brother/ sister loving is not particularly frowned upon.

I know a married couple here who are first cousins, so I guess it is legal - or at least it was 20 something years ago. She told me that the family was against it, but eventually relented as she cannot have children. (she had a hysterectomy as a teen due to cancer) They are the only first cousins I know of who are married.

As for brother/sister loving, it certainly is frowned upon here. There used to be quite a bit of incest going on here (mainly fathers molesting their children), particularly in some of the more rural areas, but that's true of anywhere in the world. It's happening less and less, mainly because children have more support these days when they come forward to report what's been going on.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

They're only "urban" because they have a few buildings with more than three floors above ground.
Come to think of it, only one place on The Rock qualifies. Oh dear.  :-\
