Atripla - First night/morning - What's your experience?
« on: December 21, 2014, 02:11:11 pm »
Hey all,

Just started Atripla last night. Wasn't able to sleep much, and no vivid dreams like most say (yet), but I was completely incapacitated the morning after. Is it normal to vomit 5-6 times and not be able to eat anything? I just crawled out of bed four hours later and am still moving slowly as to not upset my stomach anymore. Finally ate some toast and got some tea in my body and I think it's all going to stay in now. Is this just a transition period for my body to get used to the meds?

Also question about pepto bismol: should I use it or no?

Thanks and I wish you all health,
Ibre

Atripla can be rough for the first week or two.

However, my experience was the second night was 90% better than the first night.  Then each nightafter got better but at a smaller pace.

Stick with the nighttime dosing, on an empty stomach.  Make sure it's at least a few hours after your last meal (you can relax the empty stomach, food requirement after you get used to it).

Hang in there.

Don't be fancy, just get dancey

Awesome thank you for the swift response! I'll post an update tomorrow about how night 2 went.

Thanks again!

Night2/Morning 2:

Still OK when it comes to sleep, I enjoy vivid dreams a lot. But still severe severe nausea morning after and progressing into the day. A little swelling of the lymph nodes which is good I can assume. I'll hang in there! So glad I got 5 days off for the holidays to adjust to this, because there is no way I can teach (I'm a culinary instructor) right now.

Are you drinking a lot of water when you take it before bed?
When I first stared Atripla I found a full glass of water help.  Even to this day I drink about 12 oz of water with the pill, which of course makes me wake up about 1 am to have to go pee  ::)  I take that opportunity to drink another 6+ oz of water then get bad to sleep.

I'll try that today. It's day 3 and my third morning was worse than my 2nd, so hopefully more water will help. I might even keep a slice of bread around to munch on a 3 or 4am if my stomach feels really sour.
