Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

help please

I recently had protected sex with a prostitute. No condom slippage to my knowledge, not break. my concern is that I have had little bumps on my shaft since I went through puberty (almost like little white heads) some are bigger then others then some are small, some have coming from them. Can HIV be transmitted through those bumps where the condom did not cover the base of my penis. they dont hurt or have blood coming from them, only time stuff come from them is if I intentionally pop them. almost similar to a zit. after encounter I washed myself several times and urinated...

what are my chance that those bumps contracted the virus?

You didn't have a risk for HIV because the sex was protected . I have copied some text from another site because it explains what those little bumps are more clearly than I could muster .

If the spots are mostly on the shaft of the penis and appear as numerous small white or yellow spots bumps under the skin, they may be Fordyce spot. Fordyce spots are simply prominent skin glands that show through due to the relative thinness of the skin on the shaft of the penis. They are completely normal and do not require treatment. If the spots are around the rim of the head of the penis, these may be pearly penile papules, which are another benign finding that doesn't require treatment.

Those spots are a normal part of your anatomy so don't pick at them or you could risk a non HIV related infection .

As long as you are using condoms correctly and consistently you will avoid HIV .

what about the vaginal secretions that came in contact with those bumps where the condom able to reach?

The fluid a woman produces when sexually excited comes from the Bartholin's glands, located on either side of the vaginal opening and are not infectious for HIV .

The female secretion where hiv has been shown to be present is the cervicovaginal fluid. This fluid is actually a thick mucus that covers and protects the cervix and has nothing to do with the secretions a woman produces when excited , the shaft of your penis is no where near the cervix , meaning no risk in the situation you are concerned with .

If there had been a risk I would tell you so that you could take measures to protect your health and the heath of others .

Not sure what to tell you. We have given you honest and accurate science-based risk assessment.

If you find yourself at the mercy of uncontrollable thoughts of anxiety, then perhaps it is time to consult a professional counselor about these fears.

You could not possibly get HIV in the situation you describe , no way .

If it eases your mind go get tested but I'm assuring you that you did not expose yourself to HIV and have zero reason to be worried .

So when would you be able to get an exclusive test result?, tested negative at 2 weeks with a rapid hiv test?
I know I need to do a follow up test, but testing at 2 weeks and being negative after a low risk encounter assement done by the moderators. should I feel a little bit better?

Nathy . Only post in this thread and do not start another one . If you have trouble finding your thread go to your profile and select show own post and it will take you here .

It helps us to answer your questions when all of your comments and questions are in one place .   

You never had a risk but if you want to test for peace of mind you can do so 6 weeks post exposure ( the exposure you didn't have ) and again at 3 months to confirm the results .
