Cunnilingus risk
« on: August 28, 2011, 12:38:16 pm »
I already read this forum and see people already asked about cunnilingus risk performed on a women. Your response seems to be clear for me but for reason this is not going to make me calm. I performed cunnilingus on a sex worker about 8-9 days ago and today I started to developed fever (max was 38.2 - Celsius scale).

So, trying to make myself calm, can you provide to the public of the forum some scientific evidence. All over the internet you can see multiple opinions and sometimes seems to be a terrorism, something specially done to induce the fear from HIV.

Kind Regards

Your fever is not in anyway an HIV specific happening. And you were not at risk by giving cunnilingus to that woman. Even if she is HIV+, your saliva contains over a dozen elements and proteins which form a very effective barrier to HIV transmission. Additionally, the area of the vagina where HIV cells occur are far up in the cervical area and not at the vaginal lips where your mouth would have been.

You are worrying needlessly. If your symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor. This is NOT an HIV situation. Period.

Also, do yourself a big favor and stop surfing the net. The net just feeds your worst fears and all to no good purpose. Really.

Thank you for quick answer. I visited the doctor today and my fever seems to be related to a respiratory problem.

I think you are doing a great job here. In general almost websites talked about some documented cases, but in reallity no one saw these

Glad you found our exchange to be helpful and that you checked things out with your doctor to find out the real cause of your symptoms.

Cheers.

Back, but not for confirm want you told me. I asked my doctor about HIV and he told me something and I want to share with you.

Since HIV is found in the blood, this means it requires an alkalin enviroment and it should not suppose to have contact with air at all. I believe this is why in general HIV is concentrated in cervical area, since there is at least a smalll amount of blood implied there. On the outside part of the vagina, posibility of being blood implied there is decreasing and PH is not anymore alkalin.

So in other word, another reason to consider cunnilingus sage

Vpopescu,

Thank goodness you have a doctor who knows a thing or two about hiv transmission. Too many know very little. What your doctor says about an alkaline environment is what we're talking about when we say the following:

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH (alkaline or acidic) and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect.

Cunnilingus is not a risk for hiv infection and neither is getting a blowjob.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple! Read through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence. The first link is particularly informative and the site is available in several languages.

I believe everything you say is true, but as a suggestion, I think effect will be much bigger if you specify what doctors or researchers are behind these conclusions. There was a sociologist called Stanley Milgram which shown in his experiments the role of authority. In general, seems that people want to believe more someone who is an authority in his domain, even sometimes is not true. I think people need to find here something like this: " M. D xxxx discovered HIV do not exist in Bartholin's glands fluid" or "MR xxxxxx proved HIV cannot be transmitted by .... "

This is only a suggestion. What I think can increase the impact of this forum

We have posted, and continually repost, the quantification backing up our assertions. We use strictly first tiered peer-reviewed scientific data as the very foundation for our replies. A quick search of previous threads regarding oral sex/cunnilingus would reveal this.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

I believe information presented here is also confirmed by board of advisors. I saw some medical doctors there, which make what you say stronger. Actually, to be honest, here is the only place where I can see some information about this. For example information about concentration of virus in Batholin's glands fluid cannot be seen anywhere over the internet.

:) But the other side of the problem is probably most of the people (including me) are very close to develop obsessive-compulsive disorder and won't be able to rest without testing. That's probably the biggest problem here. You are not facing only no risk situation, you need to face a lot of "ghosts" from human mind.  :)

■Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

You're posting excessively over a NO RISK situation.

Well, for me posting is finished here. I still keep my opinion that some information need to associated with the source of it. As I said, an affirmation like HIV is concentrated in cervical area and is not found in Bartholin’s glands fluids should associated at least with the source of it.
But bottom line is this.  This post ends here for me.

OK. We have duly noted your repeated statement of your opinion/suggestion.

Good luck and remember to always use condoms for vaginal/anal intercourse.
