Title: Newly diagnosed.. Questions
Post by: noobnooberton1979 on February 12, 2012, 01:23:25 am
Hi Everyone! Got diagnosed recently. No health problems to speak of just yet, also not on any meds. Any homeopathic remedies anyone can suggest? I've been taking prenatals because they said my iron was low, plus I take multivitamins everyday.. I was thinking about purchasing EmergenC and maybe Airborne. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you! ;D

Homeopathic treatments are useless. Don't waste your time and money on them.

If you're going to take any supplements, I would suggest nothing more than an ordinary multi-vitamin. What you're taking (pre-natals**see below**) is fine.

Eating a well-balanced diet is far more important as the vitamins and minerals we get through food are much more easily absorbed and used by the body than are the ones in supplements.

One thing to definitely stay away from is echinacea. It's a no-no when you're poz as it over-stimulates the immune system and gives hiv more targets, which enables it to replicate more and faster.

**from above**One thing that isn't totally clear from your posts so far - are you still pregnant or have you already had the baby? Please do answer this - it's important.

Ann

Ann. Yes I have already had the baby (neg on first two tests) . Bouncing baby boy is 13 lbs very healthy no sign of any problems. :D. C-section and no breastfeeding Did the AZT as a precaution though and it all looks promising. Still have to wait for the 18 month, (hes 3 mos now) but am very optimistic :) Why so curious ?

Nic, I was wondering about the baby because if you were still pregnant, you would have needed to talk to a doctor about going on hiv treatment. I missed the reference you made in a different thread about having a C-section when I asked about it. (sorry!)

So, reading between the lines, am I right in thinking that you found out about your hiv late on in the pregnancy, so they gave you a C-section and put you on an AZT drip during delivery? (and of course gave the bouncing baby boy AZT for a few weeks after being born)

It's fantastic that your baby is testing negative so far. I bet you can't wait until you get the final all-clear at eighteen months! Hang in there - there's every chance that he will continue to test negative. I'm glad you're optimistic about it. You should be. :)

Enjoy your little man while he's little. He'll be tearing your house apart, dating and borrowing the car before you know it! It goes so fast.

I also had my daughter while positive, but I had her vaginal birth, the plan was c-section though, but my doctor was unavailable and there was no time. My daughter is 14 yrs old and negative. I took my meds and listened to my doctors.
But in the beginning there was a time I did not need meds. I just ate healthy.
