2nd Labs: Wow
« on: August 26, 2013, 08:22:45 pm »
Today I heard from my doctor regarding the results of my 2nd set of labs. I have to say, I'm quite amazed.

For reference, at the first labs on 6/18, I was at CD-4 of just over 800, VL of 15,900. For various personal reasons, I decided to start treatment sooner rather than later. After doing a lot of research in a short amount of time, and a very candid discussion with the doc, I started Atripla on the evening Friday, 7/12.

The 2nd draw was just under two weeks ago, on 8/13; so, one month and a day on the meds. CD-4 is up to almost 900, and VL is 28. Yes, twenty-eight. Period. I know that I didn't start with THAT high of a count, but still the rapid decline left me kind of speechless. The doctor said that earlier this year, the hospital's lab switched to a more sensitive test and the detection threshold went from 40 to 20, so had I gotten a result like this a year ago I would've been undetectable. Wow.  8)

Although I know I haven't been around here long, I do have to say thank you to everyone who was so welcoming and who has given me support and information on my posts. Likewise, all of the information on the forums and the site helped me make some very tough choices in a well-informed way. Just three short months ago I had no idea how my life was about to change, and this place and all of you have been invaluable in helping me acclimate. I know it's going to be a long road and not always smooth sailing, but it's good to know I have a place to turn when I need advice that my friends and family simply aren't able to give. Thank you all so much!  ;D
