have you ever actually tasted Atripla?
« on: May 24, 2010, 01:40:00 pm »
You might think this is a strange question. . .
So I was dutifully taking my Atripla last night and it kind of got stuck in my throat. My throat was dry and, if you've seen the Atripla, it is a whopper of a pill. I got it down with more water in a hurry, and didnt really taste anything at all. But it made me think of the awful taste you can get when asprin or other pills are in your mouth too long. And as I drifted off into my mildly vivid dream time, I wondered, what does Atripla taste like?  Even if you haven't actually tasted it, what do you think it would taste like if you did?

Intelence is a newish pill that they rushed to market without much ergonomic attention. Powdery and angular, it caught in my throat for a year any time I tried taking it with water. Bubbly soda or milk worked much better.
I tasted it. Tasted like chemical. Not utterly vile, nor would you use it in trail mix.

ddI, before the videx ec version, comes in big tablets about the size of a drink coaster. it's best to crush them up and mix with something, anything; but there's still no way to disguise the chalkiness of that much antacid. Liquid norvir is ethanol based and the ultimate in vile! It's like swallowing gasoline. Never bite into the gelcap! Though not an HIV med, acyclovir will leave a bitter taste for hours if it melts in your mouth and not in your hands. LOL

It tastes like acid. Once I was taking my pill, as in, in the process of putting it in my mouth and my phone rang behind me right as I popped it into my mouth. So I turned and forgot to immediately swollow, and it dissolved  bit in my mouth. It's a chalky acidic taste, like any other medicine, really. If you've ever tasted an un-coated medicine, it's not much different.

It's a funny thing, but for some reason I taste it by color.  Don't know how to explain it though...  It has a drab taste.  Kind of reminds me of Pepto Bismol in a way....

I've burped and tasted it.  It was pretty nasty compared to a burp before taking it.

One time it stayed in my mouth long enough for me to feel its flavour (the cap on my bottle water got stuck before I could take a sip).  Tastes like booty.

Who's booty?

Whose booty? An illegal Mexican migrant worker's, Trey.  All that sweat makes it oh so not very for my delicate and refined palate.

The worst pill to taste is Neurontin (PN med) if it's half digested and you burp.
