Risk of HIV? and Conclusive test?
« on: May 14, 2011, 11:29:33 pm »
Hi er basically 5 weeks ago I had protected vaginal sex with a sex worker and gave her unprotected oral (cunnlingus). Just this week i went for a rapid HIV test on 5th week Mark, and was negative.

I also fingered her though the counsellor who administered the test just waved it off and told
Me I will be fine when I asked if I needed to return for a 3rd month test.

I just want to know how accurate/conclusive the results are? The country that I'm in has a HIV prevalence rate of 0.1% as of 2009. If it's of use.

The condom didn't break too. (I understand it's obvious if it breaks and I did water test after it to confirm it didn't break).

Thank you!

I also seemed to be experiencing this stretch? (not really an ache and only when i sort of stretch) in the abdomen area. Is it ARS?  :-\

zairen,

You have not had a risk for hiv infection.

Protected intercourse is just that - protected. There have been long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

Going down on a woman is also not a risk for hiv infection and neither is fingering.  Not one person has ever been infected either way and you won't be the first.

You do not need further testing. You do not have hiv.

Here's what you need to know in order to remain hiv negative:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

THank you RapidRod & Ann!

So some symptoms that I'm experiencing have nothing to do with HIV/ ARS ??

I have this 4 red sores (non-itchy) on my right foot near the sole and slight ache in my mid abdomen (though it might be from a 3 second crunch I did yesterday since I haven't exercicsed for a long time).

Thanks again!

zairen,

Of course your symptoms have nothing to do with hiv infection. Not only have you not had a risk for hiv infection, but you also tested negative for hiv. You do not have hiv.

If you're worried about anything going on with your body, see a doctor. Whatever is going on is not hiv related as you do not have hiv.

Put this behind you and move on with your life.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!!!

If I may ask some more questions, is it possible for ARS symptoms to show up 6 weeks and 4 days after the encounter? Prior to this I only had some red bumps (I saw a doctor ytd who identified it as insect bites), slight runny nose last week and a sore throat which disappeared because of medicine on the day of the encounter (does the sore throat increase risk of HIV?)

Yesterday I suddenly had nose bleed (blood didn't flow out - I think was a combination of hot weather and me clearing my
Nose) and from afternoon till now I have been having this very bad runny nose - I keep sneezing and there's loads of
Mucus. Other than that I don't have enlarged lymph nodes ( Is it obvious to detect?)

But this morning I woke up with a fever of 37.8 degrees celsius (100 fahrenheit?)

Yes so just worried that it might be ARS? Is it possible to only
Show up at this stage? Maybe because of a weaker immune
System or smth?
Thanks!

Could HIV symptoms show up at 6 weeks and 4 days after a risky incident? Unlikely but yes it could happen.

BUT and it's a BIG but, you did not have a risk AND you tested negative. So it's all moot because HIV is not your problem. Period.

If you have symptoms you should discuss them with your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV.

Okay thank you Andy!

I went to see a doctor and she said that coupled with my extremely bad runny nose (keeps sneezing and a lot of mucus), it's probably sensitive to something (together with the erratic weather here) and that fever should subside soon.

My fever's already going down. So yea I guess it was overreacting (because I read that high fever is a common sign of ARS)

Thanks for your help and advice!

I just went to a massage where the masseuse gave my penis a massage as part of a package.

Well hormones started raging and what happened was that I started massaging her clit. Didn't insert my finger in though just on the outside.

I also licked her nipples for ~1 sec and it ended with her giving me a handjob (no oral no penetration - I did briefly run my penis up her back from her butt up (though just on the exterior didn't put it in)

So yea what are my risks?

I'm nt sure of her status but she doesn't give sex at all. Also when she was massaging my penis she ran her hand from near my anus and to the tip of my penis (uncircumcised so she pulled the foreskin back) that's my biggest worry that her hands has some cuts。

So yea pls help!

Are you actually reading the responses to your questions? Doesn't seem so.

That's right. You did not have a risk. Period. Re-read what Ann has said to you.

Hey guys I know I've posted before so please bear with me I Just need to clarify some stuff?

I had an encounter with a CSW from Thailand (she's here on a visit sort of). Anyway, the "exposures" were protected oral (received), unprotected cunnilingus (given), protected vaginal sex and stimulating (not inserting though just on the vaginal lips).

Moving on, during the cunnilingus, I didn't really go all the way it was just on the exterior where the vaginal lips ? I guess were and I detected no (or a miniscule) amount of fluid. Even with my finger just stimulating the exterior, the fluid didn't really come out only inside.

For the protected vaginal she used KY Jelly lubricant which after reading it I guess it's safe and the condom didn't break (it's a catastrophic failure if it breaks right? and after the session the semen was still in the condom so it worked). Does a condom's brand mean anything? Because this brand was not exactly a well known brand but still used at times.

Oh she bathed me also and used her hand to scrub my body which is also safe right?

In conclusion, just wanted to clarify I had little (no) risk at all?

2 weeks ago I had another encounter but that was just penile-to-hand contact (handjob) which is also safe?

Thanks!

Just need clarification and I won't post again thanks for all the help! :)

zairen,

Once again, nothing you list was a risk for hiv infection.

Getting a blowjob, with or without a condom, is not a risk for hiv infection.

Going down on a woman is not a risk for hiv infection.

Protected intercourse is not a risk for hiv infection.

Fingering is not a risk for hiv infection.

Getting a handjob is not a risk for hiv infection.

We're not here to hold you hand every time you have a sexual experience. You need to take what you've learned here and apply it to each situation as it arises.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!!!
