Counts before: 328/ 23% VL : 32,000
4 weeks on Viramune/Truvada...
Counts now: 470/ 33% VL: 320
Liver, testi, and thyroid are all normal. doc thinks I'm tired cuz of the sleep issues and that the "new meds don't really cause fatigue." Right.
I'm in a good mood today. :)

Wow congrats man! That is a great improvement in your numbers. Looks like the meds really working.
How are you feeling now on meds compared to before starting?

Hey thanks! Good abs. no GI side effects...except maybe gas in the morn. Really tired still but it's slowly going away. I think.
3 weeks in I couldn't seem to walk one morning...it hasn't been that bad since. Thank god.

It must feel great to finally be taking the fight to the virus...... and winning :)

That's gotta feel good! I hope things continue to go well for you and the fatigue fades.
I'll have my first results next Thursday. I'm trying to have realistic expectations. I have a lot further to go, so it's good to see what can be done in such a short time.

thanks! Energy is up and down. Sometimes i want to stop taking my meds to see if it's killing my energy levels. I'm sick of sticking this out. Hopefully things calm down soon.

Congratz! That cd4%age is frickin' beautiful. Um about what you said in post #8 I'm speechless and I guess you're j/k (just kidding) ... Ever seen this ad for "FRS"? If I had $1 for everytime Yahoo has given this to me as an ad over the past 2 months, well, I'd have about $100 dollars. Ughh. So annoying, but perhaps something to ask your doctor about. With some extra luck it might even taste like Lance Armstrong? :D

Getting better...thanks for the kind words. Still need a nap everyday...I have a feeling I'm already undetectable...it's a good feeling. :)
I've just been drinking LOTS of coffee.
It's a trip the doc thinks I'm making shit up when I tell him my face swells a tad from the meds...and I get joint pain...maybe cuz he's straight? whatevs...this is SOOO manageable..so far. :)

It can take awhile for your body to get used to the meds and that can ware you out. Just remember your bodies immune system was just recently under full attack and it was getting to the point that it couild no longer maintain any kind of defense. the meds now have given your body the opportunity to go into attack mode, the bad guys don't have why of replicating the cells they've already taken over and the virus isn't able to infect new cells...basically the virus is toast and your body is on the rebound. It's really important to take the meds as prescribed and hopefully do will be back to your old self....ok not that old. :)
I've posted a link as to how cells replicate, it's by blocking these processes in infected cells that the various HIV meds do their work. Other meds lockdown uninfected healthy cells.

Strictly speaking, its by interfering with stages in the virus' replication that HIV meds work (see pic).
- entry inhibitors work by stopping HIV getting into the CD4 cell
- nukes and non-nukes drugs stop HIV changing from a single strand of RNA into a double strand of DNA
- integrase inhibitors block HIV from being 'integrated' into the cell's DNA
- protease inhibitors block new HIV from being cut into the right size proteins and this prevents new virus from being infectious

Looking good Mike. The meds should settle down and fatigue should improve once your system is used to them.

Great news,
Lot's of people experience fatigue when starting meds, this should improve with time. It seems the reasons aren't well understood. Someone told me once that it's a bit like getting over a bad dose of the flu.
Naps are good.

I still need my naps...I feel better today..ha I got worried there. I just hate not being in control I guess. And since I'm like ADD + super high energy all the time (leo here) and dance 5 days a week...being that fatigued where I couldn't go to school, look for a job, and not see my friends really irked me. And it's not like any of them came to visit either. And living alone/depression can trick into liking isolation
I guess my point is sometimes i feel like i shouldn't depend on people anymore. Not even my friends. Things will get better in time. They always do. Ii forget that all the time. Ha. I've hijacked my own thread...whoops
-
Shadow, I take naps usually every day also. And I don't depend on anyone-so depending on just yourself is a good idea.
BTW, I agree with Philly-you are sexy (damn the age difference).

It should be noted that Pacerintl is not HIV+.

From the looks of his body I'd probably answer "yes" to that.
