Broken Condom? PEP?

I'm sorry to post. I do realize you probably have already answered this, but I do need some reassurance if you don't mind.

Last monday I met a man who told me he was HIV negative. He was somewhat aggressive. He had me deep throat him, suck his fingers, he spit in my mouth which I wasn't too thrilled with or expecting, had me rim him. I dont know if precum was ever present in my mouth, but he did have me deep throat him so it could have. I never did anal with him, though he did try and rub himself on my anus. He also stuck a finger into me.

A few days later I some how find out this man is actuall HIV postivie though he lied and told me he wasnt. I never do bareback or swallow cum, but I'm afraid his precum was still present. Looking back he seems like the type that wants to infect people. He only fingered me for a few moments but I don't know if he had any cum on his fingers or not.

I'm just nervous over this whole situation. I want to get tested so badly. I don't know if I can before the 3 month mark.

My main reason is to know if there are any places or test I could take before the 3 month period? I tried calling an HIV/AIDS center but they're all closed. 

I read on here that you cannot get HIV through oral because of saliva, but since I deep throated him I assume the saliva wasn't there? I'm sorry if I'm being ignorant.  I'm so scared that I maybe infected and mad at myself for not using a condom on oral and mad at the guy lying to me.

Although I can understand you're being nervous about that experience as it doesn't sound particularly friendly, nevertheless nothing you did with him put you at risk for HIV. Your saliva contains over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV. Yes, even with your having deep throated the guy.

Other STDs are much easier to transmit than HIV, so you do need to be regularly have a full STD panel done to check those out. For instance rimming is very risky because it's the germiest orifice in the body. If you are sexually active you ought to have all the tests done at least once a year and more often if you have any symptoms. But as far as HIV is concerned there is no reason to worry about this incident.

You didn't have a risk for HIV, but if you are insisting on doing so for your peace of mind then do it at 13 weeks for a conclusive result.

The waiting period for other STDs is pretty much the same.

Would having Herpes make any difference? Wasn't having any outbreak at the time, but still have it?

No, having herpes does not specifically make you more vulnerable to HIV.

 However, if when you are having an outbreak it means your immune system is down which would make you more vulnerable if you had unprotected intecourse.

Hello,

I had sex with a man I didn't know very well. I was the bottom. He wore a condom and I don't think it broke. I looked at it when we were done, but later when I went to the restroom I noticed what looked to be semen in my stool. I'm freaking out now. Could I have gotten cum from him? Should I go on to the emergency room and go on PEP?

You looked at the condom afterwards - you WOULD have known if it broke. A broken condom is VERY obvious.

What you saw in your stool was probably lube and/or your own anal mucus.

I do not see a need for PEP over this incident. You only need to test if it's time for your annual or biannual sexual health check-up.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hi,

I never heard of anal mucus, but it makes sense. I searched it and it is described the way it looked so I'm guessing it was just that. That's a relief. I figured I would notice if the condom was broken. I didn't however really examine the condom that well so I wasn't 100% sure. Thank you for your reply.

You wouldn't have to "examine" the condom. As Ann said when a condom fails it is a very obvious event. It's not as people often imagine about itty bitty holes.

No, the whole thing goes and ends up looking like a lot of fringe with a hoop on the penis.

You would have known if it had burst.
