Sen. Chambliss Staffer- "All Faggots Must Die"

A comment posted on a Joe.My.God blog yesterday  saying "All faggots must die" has been tracked to Georgia Sen Saxby Chambliss' office. After the comment,  Joe Jarvis posted the posters IP address on a whim and some computer geeks tracked it down to the Senators office, today the Senator acknowledged that the comment did in fact come from a computer in his office and is questioning his staffers. The comment was posted in a blog discussing the senates failure to advance a bill repealing DADT.

Kudos to Joe for not letting this bigot staffer get away with such a vile comment!

Yeah, I read that. Sadly, here in Georgia, that only helps Republicans get elected. Because most of the Democrats live in the cities, and are so used to the tolerance and level of comfort there, they don't vote.

Dan Savage talks to Keith Olbermann about this.  He also shows McCain arguing with reporters or gay rights people.  They claim, and it has been proven, that the military has actively looked for gays in its ranks.  McCain goes into this childish rant almost shouting them down that it has never happened.  I actually use to like McCain back during the early part of this decade, but he has just lost all credibility.  I think he is losing it over losing the prez election twice now.

Thanks for that clip, Ive never seen it. Yeah, he's pretty disrespectful, when the reporter asks him a specific questions "Are they searching through private Emails" McCain goes into his political mantra and keeps repeating "The military does not search out Gays"...he will not even respond to the question. Of course this is typical of politicians to avoid the question, and i agree that McCain has become increasingly "loose cannon" as Olberman puts it. He used to be half-way centered and settled.

Twice in one morning I'm agreeing with Matty.  It wasn't "I'm gonna come and kill all you homos" it was what it was.  He probably thought it would be anonymous and it obviously wasn't.

I sent the email to ol' Saxby this morning. In it I questioned whether it was a staffer or he himself that sent the posting in question. I also asked him to consider how could the biggest, baddest military men in history could be so afraid that another man might look at their dicks in the shower, that if these guys are THAT insecure, perhaps they are not fit for service. Also pointed out that it seemed odd that if I were a sex offender, that the military would take me in as long as  the offense was heterosexual in nature... The final point was that the senator should not hide how he really feels about the subject, that he should be honest about it, and let the people decide if they want him in office or not, and not to be a hypocritical sleaze trying to keep his job, because after all, if he is doing the Right Thing, God will protect him.

In general, it's not that easy. When you post from a computer that hooks into the internet through a company such as Comcast or Cox or Bell South or whatever, all you can really tell is the country and sometimes the general region.

When you post from a computer from a large corporation, hospital, university or government facility (amongst others) who has their own system, that will enable where you are posting from to be pin-pointed with greater accuracy.

The moral of the story is... If you don't want people (website admin) to know the specific place you're posting from, don't post from work or from a university computer.

Just wanted to put that out there so nobody panics.

incendiary, yes. Hateful, yes. A death "threat?" No. The headline was, sadly, misleading and inflammatory. Would have been more than sufficient to read "Anti-Gay Hate Speech Sent From Senator's Office."

Sometimes it really helps to read the whole article.
