Viva la FIFA !!
« on: July 05, 2006, 02:45:35 pm »
I have turned off the ringer, quieted the answering machine. I have a six pack of Red Stripe beer, a bag of pistachios, a nice litle chuck steak which will be grilled to perfection in my Lodge grill pan, and finally, some steak fries with malt vinegar.
10 minutes til game time !!!! I can't wait............

I'm rooting to see Portugal win this game, cause I'd love to see them play Italy, but I'm mostly stoked just to see a great game.

Signing off....... 8)

Well, we know the result!  France versus Italy --- what a final?  I thought the Portuguese played quite well, but France deserved its victory.  It is awesome how a team that has started playing a slow, insignificant football finds itself propelled to the final after having  beaten Spain and Brazil...
In Paris and all the cities and villages of this country it is now party time until Sunday! :D

Quite true, Fance deserved their victory. What a great game. I was a little disappointed to see the Portuguese playing a little dirty, but even that didn't help them. I especially thought it touching when Zidane, and Figo awarded each other their jerseys in the spirit of sportsmanship.
Tuesday is going to be a really great game.

don't remind me....watched THAT disaster on the big screens which the good people at Hyde park calling festival had kindly provided...and even the copious amounts of pear cider i had by that point consumed did little to lessen the frustration! don't think we deserved to win though...yes, the portugese played dirty, but we didn't come up with the goods. And at least now, most of the madness has calmed down here...

gonna be tres controversial, for a brit, and say my money's with france  :)

Dear Lassie,
I did see the England game, and it was fraught with dirty tactics.  8)

I am most expectant of a fabulous game, to lend creedence to the power of sportsmanship, and the spirit of equal recognition.

Each time I see the teams representing each of their countries, I am again affirmed of the spirit of brotherhood.

I have been most pleased to see these opposing teams conduct themselves with grace, and dignity.

Well, the best match (hors concours now) for brotherhood, spirit of sportmanship and dignity was Portugal-The Netherlands, right? :P

You left out 'taking a dive', but I guess that falls under 'clever'. This is what has been appearing on light poles in Aus since the Italy game. but having been brought up by a bunch of Sicilian's, I'm bucking the trend in Australia and going for Italy.

Italia, Italia!!!

Its Viva Le France for me! I placed my whopping R50 (thats less than $10) on France before the tournament started when they were 14 to 1, one more win to go and I can cash in. GO Le Bleu !!
