Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Hello,

Firstly thankyou all for taking the time to respond to questions. I have engaged in some behaviour that I believe may pose a risk for HIV and was wondering your opinions.

About a year ago (stopped since) I had about ten different sexual partners. With all these partners, I performed oral sex without ejaculation. Some of them I also had anal sex with as the receptive partner but always used protection.

I have also have partner who I am currently in a monogomous relationship with whom I engage in unprotected anal sex and he is HIV negative. I have never experienced any HIV like symptoms.

I am getting tested next week, but I am experiencing a lot of anxiety. Do I have a risk for HIV?

The only risk in what you are reporting is your having had unprotected anal intercourse with your current partner. The only time you can do that safely is when both partners are securely committed to monogamy and get tested together at a reliable time -- that is, 3 months after the most recent risk.

The only risks sexually for the transmission of HIV are unprotected anal and vaginal intercourse. If you are not in a securely monogamous relationship after being tested together, then the safer thing to do is to always use condoms for intercourse. No exceptions. Even a well meaning partner may not know his HIV status accurately so condoms are a must unless you guys reliably test negative together.

Good luck with your test result. You need a negative test result at 3 months after the most recent unprotected incident to be sure of your negative status.

Hello again just an update and one further question. I did test negative for HIV, however there is one more incident I was wondering about.

Before the window of detection was complete when I tested for HIV I had one incident of casual sex with a male of unknown status (before I got into a relationship). In this situation, i performed and recieved oral sex without ejaculation, and he attempted anal sex on me with a condom on (wasn't hard enough to get in, so I assume it was similar to frottage with a condom). I know this sounds crazy but what if he had some other std and HIV? Or I had another STD? Would this event then be a risky behaviour? (I did not notice any symptoms on him or myself). Also at the time my wisdom tooth was a little sore or inflamed (no bleeding)

Sorry, one final detail I forgot is that I am sure the condom did not break or have holes as I filled it up with water after
