"Modify" function missing

Is the usual "modify" function to allow changes to our post removed or is my Google Chrome acting up? ???
I wanted to insert some new info into one of my recent post but could not find the modify button anymore. Any ideas? Thanks! ;)

PS: This is weird. This post has the modify function intact after I posted but still not present in all my old posts. ??? :o

How old is the post you want to modify?  There's a time limit for modifying posts (just in case you didn't know).

Merlin, posts can only be modified within ... um, I think it's 36 hours. Might be 48, but I think it's 36. You can either make a new post in the relevent thread, or if you really want the added info in the original post, I can do it for you. Moderators can always edit any post, and when we do, our name appears in the edit stamp.

PS - I just dug around in the admin pages - posts can be edited for 2880 minutes, which is 48 hours or two days, take your pick. ;) I can never remember since I don't need to worry about the time limit.

Our posts do live forever due to this change.  If I'm remembering correctly, we went through a period when people were deleting the content of all their posts.

Yep, and that's why we changed the time available to edit posts. It was really annoying when people did that!

I totally agree that it's really anti-social to self remove any post for whatever reasons. Having said that, I recalled technically, not all our posts lived forever. When we migrated to this new format some years back, alot of our old threads did not survive the transition.  :'( There were alot of great info in those threads.
Wish they had huge Tetra Bytes of external storage drives then for sale like now, I'd have had saved them myself.  :-[.  Ah well.... ;D
