Out Damn'd Spot! Out I Say!
« on: April 06, 2012, 08:28:17 am »
I've noticed a collection (10 or so) of small red spots that are mole like in appearance on my chest and abdomen. They're recent, no more a week or two.  I showed them to a nurse at a free medical clinic on Thursday and she asked me if I was positive.  I asked her what she thought it might be but she said she wouldn't speculate but asked when I'd next see my HIV team. I told her I had an appointment next week and she was satisfied.
Ok all pussy footing aside does anyone have any ideas what  might be causing these spots?

Growler,
I started getting the same kinds of spots that you describe in my thirties before I became +. My Dermo had a long name for them but he said to not be concerned because they were harmless and occurred on some people as they got older. When I had my first visit with my ID I showed them to him and he said the same thing.
I hope yours are harmless as well.
Peace,
Billy

Billy,
I'm sure you're probably right, it's the only thing that fits.

But thinking about it,  it is Easter so maybe it's sigmata! ? ... Ok with that in mind I'll buy a magic marker, use it to join the spots and see if Jebus has given me a treasure map to a secret stash of chocolate easter eggs :)

Little bright red moles with a solid border are usually cherry angiomas.  They are harmless and of no concern usually.

If they do not have a solid round border, and appear to have spider like legs instead they could be a sign of liver damage (however this is usually not the case and you probably would have established liver disease by then).

I was going to suggest Porcelana cream, but your spots are red, not brown.

Seriously, I hope this is just a harmless, cosmetic issue.
