Title: Sculptra denied. Now What? many questions
Post by: whiteboy500 on November 20, 2009, 02:37:29 am
I have been receiving Sculptra treatments through the Patience Assistance Program for well over a year.    Maybe 2 yrs.    I sent in the PAP form expecting to get more and the dermatologist office called and said i had been denied.    I called the company to find out why and they told me that the only way to get Sculptra now was to either get a prescription or to get my doctor to make an appeal.    Does an appeal take a long time?   Has anyone done this?   When they said Doctor, do they mean my dermatologist or my Infectious Disease Doctor? :)
Also, was wondering the average price for Sculptra if i were to get a prescription for it.    Does anybody know the price range, i realize it is different for every pharmacy...but i need a ballpark figure.
And if anyone has been denied Sculptra, would greatly appreciate hearing your story on what you did to keep getting it.     Any information will be helpful.

I paid $1500 for one treatment three years ago.  That was pretty standard.  That was enough to fill completely both cheeks.

I only needed one treatment, which I'm sure you know is not the norm... so it can become quite expensive... especially if you need to keep touching it up every two or three years.

The company that makes Sculptra had a patient assistance program where the patient got a price break on a sliding scale based on income .. up to either 60 or 80K.   Your doc should be familiar with it and be able to tell you if it is still available.  Note you still have to pay the doc's fee.  For me the Sculptra cost $1000 and the doc's fee was $500.

I heard a couple of months back the Dermik PAP for Sculptra might be going away.  You may want to call the company directly.

As the other member said, I think the cost is around $1,000 for two vials or a kit, and between four and five hundred dollars for the procedure.

I'm on the PAP too, and hope that it has not gone away!!!!  I don't think I can afford treatments without it.  So I'm in the same boat as you.

If I find anything out I'll be sure to let you know and perhaps you'll do the same.
