Started Meds on Friday..
« on: May 04, 2015, 01:53:57 pm »
I've been poz for 10 months and started taking meds last friday. The doctor put me on Combivir twice daily and Sustiva before i go to bed.

It been quite a ride since last friday.. the Sustiva keeps me spaced out until about 2pm the next day even though i take it at 10:30pm the night before.. After i take the Combivir i want to throw up but im doing my best to hold it in.

Anyone experience something similar or has any advice? Or should i just ride it out and hope these effects will pass soon?

Thanks! :)

tislijiet!

give any new med a couple weeks for your body to acclimate, most of that will fade. i'd say ride for a little bit

may want to dose a little earlier in the evening so you're not strung out so long the next day. also, don't eat a high fat meal near your dose time, that may well help.

no experience with combivir, but have been on related meds.. i'm sure someone will come along that has taken that particular med and can offer insight

sustiva... caused me powerful vivid dreams, but beat down hiv very well... long term i needed to discontinue it's use and swap to another med. i have a history of mental health issues that became a complication. something to think about if you are bipolar or prone to depression, it can bring that out strongly.

Haha Lilek ukoll!

Wow u know maltese? O.o

Thank for the Advice Zach. i will ride it out for the next couple of days.. the only huge problem im finding at the moment is that i work dealing with people every day and i look and feel l like im drunk.

I do normally have vivid dreams and i can say that they have been more real than usual.

I will try and stick with it and if i keep having the same issue, i will speak to my doctor abut changing the time.

 ;D

nah, google translate... small goal of mine is to learn to greet people in every language

i searched your post history for clues on where you're at

not to alarm you at all... seriously... just the combo struck me, i didn't think azt was being used much anymore... but i would not listen to me on that, i am far too uneducated to second guess any doctor anywhere in the world

Hi, I hope your side effects are now diminishing somewhat. My advice would be to ride it out for a while and see if the side effects get better conferring with your Doctor.

I was started on Sustiva and it did a great job of kicking ass on the virus and restoring me to good health. My side effects were severe the first days, weeks but did improve somewhat. However I rode it out for 9 months but in the end changed as found myself with sleep issues as well as depression. For me changing worked literally overnight so  you do have options to try if the side effects stay.

The advice from others Zach and Tony great first, move your dosing time earlier and remember to take it on an empty stomache.

Cheers

Reg
