HOW 2 RIP A DVD ?

Does anyone know how to rip a dvd? I have a few I want on my ipod- audio not video.

I can help you if you are on a Mac:

get DVDxDV from www.dvdxdv.com (shareware 25$ after 30 day trial period). It is pretty straight forward operation. Once you have ripped the bits that you wanted (you can make selections), take them into iTunes and convert them to aac so they take less space. Then delete the original rips.

Alternatively, if you want the whole dvd audio, you could use Audio Highjack, a great shareware that will record any sound going through your mac audio system. This means you can also record internet radio (great for live concerts!). All you have to do then is kick AH into record mode and start playing your dvd. The audio file generated can be saved into iTunes too.

PS: If you are on a PC it is probably possible to do the same but I am not as comfi there...

There are several free programs on www.vcdhelp.com under "tools".
Some are better than others. Some DVD's have good copy protection
and are hard to rip. Disney DVD's I always have trouble with.
