Austin's ban on single-use plastic bags goes into effect tomorrow. Exceptions: produce and meat bags, and bags for take out liquids such as gravy or lobster bisque. I've been using reusable shopping bags for several years, but recently have been stocking up on the plastic ones because they are never single-use in my household.

they banned plastic bags here in Seattle about a year or two also. they also charge you for using a paper bag of .05 for each bag.
even though I supported it, reducing waste and all that, it's been a bit of a pain.

They tried that here but it didn't go down to well, I have about 5 re-useable bags I keep in the car, but who remembers to take them out when they go shopping, instead of going out to get them when I'm done I just get them to fill the plastic bags, I know lazy, but I reuse them as bin liners.

I use a hemp bag that I carry in my car , it took awhile to get in the habit of grabbing it before I shop and remembering to put back in the car after I put grocery's away but Im used to it now .
