Signs of aging
« on: April 21, 2008, 11:48:53 am »
It all started with a few grey hairs around my ears.  That was followed by varicose veins, thinning hair, receding hairline, and more grey hair throughout my head.  Then came the grey chest hair and grey hair in the you know where region.  My hearing is getting worse and then yesterday I got my first pair of bifocals.  I am sure that an enlarged prostrate won't be far off.

Getting older is such fun...... :)

Well, er, the enlarged prostate can be prevented. Ask Tim.
As for the other stuff....who cares.  I can still hear well enough to know if someone is talking to me even if I cant always get each word.  Kurt was taking my temperature with a digital themometer which beeps when its done and you can read the temp. He started to pull it out of my mouth and I said...."Not yet it hasnt gone off yet"  He answered "Oh yes it has."
Have a good day.

Dear Woodsie,

Whatever you do, don't use this description in your Manhunt.com profile. You'll only get responses from geezers like me. ;D

When they come OUT of your ears, instead of around, THEN you're old.

No varicose veins and no glasses yet, but with you on all the rest (not to mention hair growth in new strange places, out of the ears being just one of them).. ::)

I'm way to young for bifocals , I just don't understand why I have to put my glasses on to read when I already have my contacts in . I am not in denial I am way to young for bifocals ... as I pull more grey hair out of my ear .

By the way you geezers, I wasn't implying that I personally have hair coming out of my ears.

I don't really know if my hair is truly grey or not; I've been bleaching it for so many years.  I'm sure were I to let it go back to natural, I'd find out real fast and start bleaching again.

The yard, eh? Yes, it used to be a playground; now it's just an empty lot.

A few days ago my step dad who owns a used car lot pulled up in my drive in a Corvette convertable , I ask him if he was having a mid life crisis  . He looked up into the rear view mirror and said I hope the hell I'm not I would hate to see what this  face would look like at 132 .

I forgot that.  Had a haircut Sat and as the barber was finishing up she asked if I wanted my eyebrows trimmed up.  I guess my eyes have gotten so bad I didn't even notice they needed to start being trimmed.  But in spite of everything I can still get an erection, of course it doesn't last long and if that stops at least I can take another pill.

Yeah what's up with the eyebrow, nose and ear hair growth as men age?  Why would we be genetically programmed to do that, what possible use could it serve?

Well, Lets see, I am still fortunate enough to have a head full of hair. It's more gray on the sides than any where else. Also have the gray chest hair. I"m spouting hair, where I wish it wouldn't grow from !  :)  Hearing is still ok, except for the tinnitus). I started wearing glasses in my mid forty's ( I wear the progressive lenses, and so far this year, no change needed in presription) And my prostate is still ok at 56.!!

Oh I thought of something else that happens to men. Their balls sometimes droop lower.

::)   We took a swim in the Gulf today. My drooping balls disappeared !!   :P The water is still a little chilly ! kind of like that Seinfeld episode with the "shrinkage factor"  :)

I offer this to illustrate two things about aging:
1. Its a source of humor.
2. I forgot the second.

Can You Relate?

An elderly gent was invited to an old friends' home
for dinner one evening. He was impressed by the way
his buddy preceded every request to his wife with
endearing terms such as: Honey, My Love, Darling,
Sweetheart, Pumpkin, etc. The couple had been married
almost 70 years and clearly, they were still very much
in love.

While the wife was in the kitchen, the man leaned over
and said to his host, 'I think it's wonderful that,
after all these years, you still call your wife those
loving pet names'.

The old man said...... 'I have to tell you the
truth,' he said, 'Her name slipped my mind about 10
years ago and I'm scared to death to ask her what it is!

I remember shaving and the light caught the shine of a stray hair on my eyebrow. I swiped at it, but it was still there. I couldn't seem to dislodge it..dang...so I started this grabbing the end of it and it fought back...It was growing there. :o

Then I decided to get a short haircut, and my ears were exposed to the world and she took a small pair of clippers and to my surprise ran it in a around my inner ear. This was my indoctrination into...you've got ear hair....which I have learned how to skillfully harvest on a regular basis.. :-[

Then with my new short haircut, I was in the car and checking myself in the mirror the sunlight showed a stray hair behind my ear and I swiped but it would not go away. At a red light, in exasperation, I put my face in the mirror and the hir was growing from the top of my ear...I felt like Yoda.....later, I discovered one growing on the lobe, hanging there like some kind of pieced earring thing... >:(

Then I was driving adn the sun showed a stray hair on the outline of my nose...by now, I sorta knew what I was going to find..a hair growing right on the end of my nose... ::)

On a different note, the hair on my legs from the calf to the ankle has stopped growing, but just in the back... :-\

And the good news is that I still have all my hair on my head  ;D
