What are the most sleep-friendly HIV meds, as far as not disrupting or preventing falling asleep at night? Atripla seems to cause some insomnia but I have also heard that about Isentress/Truvada.

I've only ever been on Isentress/Truvada, but I chose it because I was told I could waken and have my wits (in case of any family emergencies at night) and the dreams wouldn't be too freaky. I would say what dreams I do have/remember are a tad more interesting than pre-tx---but not Atripla-style.

I've had sleep issues for a good 12 years (specifically falling asleep, once I'm asleep I sleep very well) and that period spans various HIV med regimens probably consisting of a dozen different ones. So I'm going to go with my sleep problems not being connected to HIV meds.
That's also the problems I see with the reporting of sleep problems in HIV med studies -- how do you know it's the specific medication and not just generalized depression or general anxiety? Atripla seems quite clear because of the numbers it effects. Anecdotally I'd say much less for Isentress, though yes it's including on the label warning (but then so is just about anything for HIV meds to some degree, the issues is just that -- one of degrees).
Bottom line: you won't know until you try it. If you don't like it, switch to another med.

I am out like a light every night with sustiva and truvada.
It may take a few seconds to awaken when there is an incident, but I always manage.
No guns have yet been involved in those incidents....................................................

I guess it is different for everyone. I wonder if the HIV itself can fuck up the sleep patterns, even if I am undetectable...I am going to talk to my doc about this...Might see if I can try I/T for a trial basis and see if my sleep pattern improves. I wonder if the fact that Atripla dosing is at night before bed plays a role in problems falling alseep...Maybe if I tried I/T, I could dose earlier and have fewer food/dose time restrictions and that would improve the sleep. It is not an every night thing, just maybe once every few nights or so, but I need to nip this in the bud and sleeping pills are not an option for me.
