My Labs <suck>
« on: September 08, 2006, 05:18:41 pm »
Received a call from my ID Dr. today. CD4 dropped from 207-92 9% VL undetectable. Histo level went from 8 - 52. She increased my Histo medication 100 mg more x2 so that's 600 mg vs. 400 mg a day. She's trying to get some new medication that is on Trial that isn't FDA approved yet, to see if that will work and if not it's back to the IVs again. We'll know in November. All my other levels were good. So more or less it sucked. It's back to the drawing board.

Rodney,

They caught it this time before it got way out of control. I am confident they will get your histo levels back down and with that, your CD4's will go up...just hang in there!

(((BIG HUGS)))

p.s. less than 2 weeks now and I'll be giving you those hugs in person!  ;D

Hey Rod,

We'll get those numbers up soon I'm sure, but as one of many forum nurses, I'd recommend taking matty's advice and staying away from the WWs.. just looking at the fears forum makes my CD4's plummet!

Hang in there buddy.

Rodney-
Odd hearing that ur CD4's dropped that quickly. That is something I never understood...the movement of CD4s. I am sure urs will improve. Mb it was a blip or u were sick that day, who knows. I am confident ur CD4s will improve though.

Feck. Maybe Matty's on to something there, because my CD4s went south too, percentage-wise as well. VL up as well, but it's one of those log whatchamacallits where it's not as bad a hike as it looks to a mathmatically challenged person like me.

Hang in there buddy, got everything crossed for you.

Big hugs and a  :-* for good measure

My immediate thought Rod is that you should make sure you do something you really enjoy today. It can be quite simple. Doesn't have to be any big hoopla. It's a great rx for the immune system.

While I do appreciate how discouraging this drop can be the numbers are only a part of the story. And as you know from experience and from reading these pages they very often bounce back up.

I'm also glad you're having it all carefully monitored.

In the meantime, and I know this takes discipline, just enjoy each day and let the friggin' future and its numbers take care of themselves.

Big hug en route to you,
Andy Velez

Well poop!

The VL news is certainly good that's no question.

But the Histo shit is indeed a troubling turn.  Keep us posted on what your doctor can do with the possibility of the new medicine you mentioned.

Hey Rodney, I'm not familiar with histo so you'll have to tell me about it sometime. Sure hope your docs can get a handle on that right away! The VL is great! CD setbacks do SUCK and I hope they rebound quickly!!

Hang in there - Be Strong!
