Title: Since many of us are incognito... Who do you remind people of?
Post by: mecch on May 28, 2010, 03:56:24 pm: A female colleague stopped me today and said she had seen Robin Hood and said I look just like Kevin Durand. (Kevin Who, i thought?) I'm tall but this guy is 6'6 and built like a brick house. Anyway she said it was a compliment and yeah, now that I have googled, I can see that.

I must say I like his badboy freak look better than the army or clean cut! Guy in center. (Smoking Aces)

Anyhoo, this got me thinking about the ones I've heard over the last 20 odd years. When i was in college I reminded people of Robert Sean Leonard. (Oh, and in particular the DOOMED RSL from Dead Poets. Did I have the icy Mary Tyler Moore as a mother?)

Then in my suits and glacial expression phase, when I got really skinny and was too posy, everyone thought I looked like Keanu Reeves.

But my ego was kept in check because at that exact period, also, black people always called me Jim Carey, and in particular Ace Ventura! Carey was also getting famous and was on Living Colour so I guess I was the all whities look alike face!

Anyhoo, just made me laugh today how i could remind people of so many different types as the years roll by!

The only thing I see in common is Brown Hair, and almond or slitty eyes.

Post by: tednlou2 on May 28, 2010, 11:14:24 pm: I don't think anyone famous looks like me. Everyone says my partner reminds them of Matt Damon. I have a friend who is the spitting image of Ross Matthews from Leno. Another who reminds me of Kevin James from King of Queens.

I do remember being in LA in 1992 at Universal Studios and this boy around my age was sitting about 6 seats from me. He could have been my identical twin. He looked just like me--especially from profile. It actually freaked me out. I thought someone slipped me drugs. I tried to catch up to him but he got away. I guess there can only be so many looks and some have to be repeated.

I have a friend from back in college who reminds me of her, too! She even married a big good time guy who looks like Clinton and they both are millionaire lawyers.

Tednlou - that happened to me just once,

on the corner of 42nd and 5th Avenue. He was walking downtown and I was heading uptown. The creepy thing was instead of my identical twin, he was me in a timemachine - I was 28 and he was about 18 and we were dead ringers.

Also when I lterally bumbed into Robert Sean Leonard outside Bloomingdales there was a kind of frisson.

As for Matt Damon - isn't he adorable! For years I thought Ben Affleck was the cute one cause I never paid much attention to either one, but then I started loving some films of Matt Damon and then I finally saw Beautiful Mind and I was completely blown away by his charm.

Ben was and is a hunk. But really the performances seem to get worse with age. My dad had a thing against men who wear a toupee. We'd watch movies or TV and he could spot the toupee a mile away.

I guess its clear Matt and Ben are both straight but its always been fun to imagine they had an exception for each other and were young lovers. Intimate male friendships that sparkle always give off this vibe. Starsky & Hutch!

I thought that it was a just a pick up line and I always told them I could show them some new tricks. So yea, I was pretty much a whore in my youth.

In the 80's I did my part to keep the hair gel industry healthy . Billy Idol's hair looked soft compaired to the chemical dump site on top of my head back then .
