I agree with dabbas, for some people the worry is very overwhelming and no matter what you tell them/us our thoughts are overwhelmed with worry...matty is completely out of line...i know when i am worried i will ask the same question over and over...hiv infection is a very seriouse worry...this site is here for people to become informed and to ask questions..no matter how many times or how "stupid" it may seem to you guys..i know you have been here a long time, but if you are getting sick of answering these questions maybe it is time to find something else to do..just my opinion..

No. Actually.

This site is for people who have HIV to commune, to share information and get support. The AM I INFECTED section is set aside as a courtesy for those who may need information above and beyond the WELL RESEARCHED transmissions section. Those who post here do so at the pleasure of the volunteers and (mainly) volunteer moderators who choose to answer. These few people are given that rank due to the scientific accuracy of their contributions, and the sincerity of their replies.

This SITE is for HIV Positive people. This FORUM is manned largely by HIV positive people who want to reach out to the greater community. And believe me, Matty and the rest will be here, giving truthful and accurate advice, long after the entitled and arrogant people who treat HIV as a punishment from God have come and gone.

The worry is overwhelming? Forgive me if I do no grieve with you. The REALITY of having HIV can be overwhelming, this I grant. But the fear of being ignorant or callously. neglectful of one's own health? Hardly overwhelming from this side of the fence.

I am appalled that anyone would question Matty or anyone else who CHOOSES to come to this forum,  set aside their OWN HIV situation, and answer questions from people who, for the most part, would find our TRANSMISSIONS lesson adequate - were they brave or smart enough to read it.

This is a site for HIV positive persons. It allows, at it's peril, HIV negative people to ask questions. I hope that this is remembered as people go forward.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

I have a question (please don't ban me). Is HIV a silent virus? When I say this I mean does it show no signs of infection where it may have entered thr body? For example herpes will usually show some form of irritation and redness where it was transmitted.

If HIV entered through the throat or urethra will it cause any type of slight irritation at all or is the first sign of infection usually swollen glands or aches etc if any signs are shown to begin with.

I also found out that the girl who possibly has exposed me
to HIV was raped as little as 7 months ago :( this would mean that her viral load if she is indeed lostive would be significantly high if she hasn't bothered to go to the doctors?

I've spoken to her since and she denies up and down that she has HIV and even tried to blame
my wife!  One curious thing she said was after she asked me how I was feeling to which I replied pretty good she said in a sinister voice 'that's all that matters I guess'.

It's been nearly 2 weeks now and the HIV test has not come back. Of course this worries me a d mIss me think ofthe worse lol.

This is definitely a learning experience.

Enough already. Seek professional mental help to deal with anxieties. That is something we nor any other forum can provide.

Dabbas,

NO, it doesn't show some sort of irritation. It's an infection of the blood.

You're still fishing for symptoms. You've been told about this repeatedly, yet you keep coming back with more.

And yes, I'm giving you that time out you've been warned about. Enough is enough already. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.

And by the way, you need to leave that poor woman alone. Her "sinister" reply to you sounds like she thinks you're being selfish and as long as you're feeling good, that's all that matters. I don't blame her. Her hiv status is never going to tell you a single thing about your own status anyway, so knock it off before she takes a restraining order out on you.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
