Valium / Percocet please.. ITS OVER AND DONE WITH! - UPDATE
« on: September 19, 2006, 08:26:22 pm »
I am nervous..  One more day before I have my mouth torn up with a wisdom tooth extraction.   I went today and got the Px's for Valium, percocet (which I have never had before) and Amoxacillin.. Dr. Ben says no problem with taking any of these in relationship to my meds and wished me well..  I still am scared shitless about this..  I know it sounds dumb, but I have never had a drill in my mouth or a tooth pulled or even braces..  I would much rather have 100 blood draws in comparison to sitting in that chair with my mouth harnessed wide open with people hovering 3 inches from my face...

I am going to do this!  But I wish it was over now!!  Please tell me any GOOD stories...  This tooth is not impacted and its just a "puller-outer."  If I wait, it will become necessary over time to go see an oral surgeon which is big bucks..

Help?

Esme,

I had one wisdom tooth (odiously impacted) extracted under local. It was just horrific. The local didn't work. I had the living feeling tooth chiselled from my head whilst I was conscious.

The other three were taken out under general and it was a breeze.

Once the procedures had been completed, the pain was quite bearable. Even after the local. There was some minor swelling but it was cool. Just follow the instructions about diet, rinsing with saline, taking your anti-biotics and what not and you'll do fine.

I think when it's over you'll be laughing about why you were scared in the first place. I had all 4 taken out, 2 by a reg dentist, 2 by a oral surgeon. nice pic by the way

Eric,

My daughter had all of her wisdom teeth pulled, 2 at a time. She had absolutely no problems.
The just 'popped' right out!  :D
There was very little pain afterwards, and believe me, she is a big baby!

I am confident you will do just fine  :-*

It is quite possible that your dentist will be able to simply pull it especially if there are no complications. Relax, enjoy your valium and percocet and have someone drive you to the dentist office and home.  good luck.  Cristy

Eric,

I had a filling done this year and my Dentist drilled in my tooth so that she could put in the filling. It wasn't so bad. I had took Amoxacillin prior to the procedure.

Have the BEST Day!

Jesus Eric, we must be dental twins.  I need to get my wisdom teeth out like yesterday.  I also need to do it this year because I have factored it into my health spending account.  The ONLY thing that is getting me through this is the promise of the pills afterwards.

Btw, Percocet isn't all that great.  I've gotten a better buzz off of Kaletra.   ::)

No sweat Eric- I prefer a trip to the dentist than the blood draw, and hep B (part II) Vaccine I got today!!
You'll be fine, just stare into the dentists mouth while he's working on you, see if he's got a good set!

Nice new pic, btw!

lol Eric, love a cute young dentist, focus on that. Maybe even imagine it's not his hands going in your mouth.........

You've painted a horrible picture about the drool and blood --NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!! Most likely, the only blood you're going to see is after it's over, and they ask you to rinse and spit it down the drain :o

It will be a piece of cake, and as someone mentioned, we'll all laugh over your recounting the event!

hey eric sweetie thanks for all your kind words of support and encouragement to me.  now i will return the favor.
there are few people as big of a wimp as i when it comes to the dentist...i am white knuckled grabbing onto the arm rests and by body gets as tense as a board...now they DID give me nitrous (laughing gas) and it so relaxed me lol i swear i think i was so high i might have levitated off the chair a few times :D
anyway here is my point:  i had 3 wisdom teeth removed 2 the first time and one the second time if memory serves me, and i have to tell you iwas in shock at how quickly he had them out and i did not experience any discomfort other then that nasty noise the pliers make and of course you will feel pressure but at least in my case i can honestly say pain was not involved.
good luck to you hun

Had all four of mine yanked at once at the oral surgeon's. 1 was impacted and 3 were semi-impacted. It was a very good experience and I recovered in about a week - including the stitches I pulled out myself coz my tongue just can't leave stuff alone in my mouth. You can spank me for it, but I know it won't do any good :D

Keep those happy thoughts in yer noddle and you'll pull through just fine, mate.

I wish that you would have told me earlier, I have a whole arsonal of pills I could have sent you... Vicodin, Percocet, Oxycodone, Morphine, Methadone, etc, etc...

But you will do just fine... Patsy knows all.  IN FACT, I will even take some pills FOR YOU and channel the buzz your way.

Eric....

Don't sweat it....You'll be fine.  And it ain't that bad....really.
Now take a valium and think of Patsy running around the dentist office butt naked
high as a kite.....wagging his weenie and that should put a smile on your face.

Remember that when you sit in the dentist chair and before you know it....
it'll be all over...

Lori-tab 10's and soma's are fun too.......throw in a Valium and a shot of Grey Goose and your
in for the evening with Patsy :P

Thanks guys for the laugh.  I wish I could try all these wonderful class 3 narcotics, I guess my puny valum will have to serve..  David I will keep your idea of thinking of Patsy running around naked while the doctor has his hands in my mouth,  but I just don't know if that would have ANY LASTING effect... lol  rofl?

One more day of being unscathed (mouthwise)

Doll,

Honestly when it's done, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about and you'll have saved yourself from a real dental horror, impacted abcessed wisdom teeth. Abcessed teeth are much nastier, extraordinarily painful and can lead to complications such as blood poisoning and endocarditits.

So get those wild ivories ripped out, Missy!

Bare with me,  The vicodin is really doing wonders as well as the valium I took before the chair...  I was in and out in a half an hour...  I had my ipod playing the musical Godspell and the gave me really kewl Tom Cruise shades to wear while he was in there...   A couple of shots and then I thought he was just probing but he had the tooth out in 1 minute in tact...   I even thought welll hell,  half the town drives around on perocets and valium, might as well do the same same...  So I am safe and sound home with Johnny changing out my gause... No pain yet.. But my mouth still feels like its not even part of my face...  Pretty kewl... Now I know what all the hub bub is about pain meds...  Cant say I really enjoy it.... Anyway... Thank you everyone for giving me the courage to deal with this...  I really was not that scared..  The Dentist and his staff were all over me about touching and holdng my hand and reashuring me...   I felt really well taken care of today...

Lots and Love,  I think I am going to go to bed now...

Love

Hey Eric....I'm glad to hear all went well.

They did warn you about dry socket, didn't they? No sucking for a day or two, you know, straws or anything else :D

Hugs,
Nadine

Ugh, I just made my consult appointment to have my wisdom teeth taken out.  :'(

I hope it goes as well as yours did.

Thanks for sharing it all!

Just when he thought it was getting better and the worst was over. I'm not worried about the straws category ;)

Hello, glad your dental appointment went well. I just have one question. who is Godspell?  I've heard of Godsmack  but not Godspell.  Anyway, glad you are okay. I go Monday. Wish me luck.   Cristy

Wellington,  I am not "taxing" my mouth for awhile...  But you will be the first to know when I do...

Godspell...  I am just to dam old I guess....   1970 Broadway Musical... Which actually has some fantastic lyrics that still apply today.  Even in Matty's world...

Cristy & Msp,  This was like a cake walk (as everyone said)...  I am going to take a thank you card over to the Dentist next Monday if this (no pain whatsoever) condition continues!!!

Love

Ps check out the snow on the webcam link under my name...  JEEZ!
