My eyes are kinda dialited today, so please bare with me here :-[
I have 20/20 vision in my Left eye, but only 20/35 in my right eye
so it looks like I may be going blind in that eye, and my left eye is working over time
I can use readers 125 to 200's but I don't want bifocals :(
I have mild cataracts in both eyes now......
they cannot figure out why my right eye keeps losing vision, maybe it's prolonged AIDS?
I didn't have CMV, and no macolure degeneration , but the right eye really has them puzzled, so they will need more testing :'( I should be hearing more about my left eye sight in the coming new yr. hope they find out why......

Living with HIV for a long time does not by itself cause vision issues. There could possibly be an underlying OI or something totally unrelated to AIDS. In my case, the crypto led to my temporary blindness. I'm elated to be able to wear my tri-focals and have pretty decent vision after only seeing shadows for a long time. Or you could just be getting old ;D
Take care and make sure they check you out thoroughly

:D Well were all gettin old, and this includes you too , last check (3 months ago) blood work was stellar, no viral-infections, no STD's, and every thing else was in the normal range, unless something has changed, I kinda doubt tho, bob & I don't go anywhere and we don't do anything to caught anything , were no sluts 8)

In the UK we get free eye exams every two years if income warrants it unless evidence off developing cateracts is found as in my case 3 years ago. Then it goes to every year.
I need to do mine , Dennis.
I will ask the optician if he knows off any links to long term HIV.

In the UK we get free eye exams every two years if income warrants it unless evidence off developing cateracts is found as in my case 3 years ago. Then it goes to every year.
I need to do mine , Dennis.

I have to do this every yr. so says my ID-Doctor, she will curse me out, if I forget my annual eye exam, she a great Doc from NY-State, I'm glad I have one that gives a dam, we have a nice rep-our , she makes my laugh ;D

I use readers bought off the peg due to my ability to break and loose glasses.However the glasses from the prescription are much better as the lenses are differant. Must,must,must make this a priority . At least I will enjoy an immediate benefit. Any good on-line frame/lenses suppliers for the lipo face known?

I like my readers off the peg as Theyer says . My diabetes renders a set pair of expensive prescription glasses useless from day to day . I never know what strength of glasses I will need each day so I have tons of the cheap ones set about .
I also wear contacts lens that I sometime don't remove for months , its a bad habit . I like seeing eye dogs though , those dogs are so cool .

I've been purchasing all of my glasses from this site. You can upload a photo and do virtual try ons. You need to get a copy of your complete prescription. I've had great success and I can buy 3 - 4 pairs for what they would cost in a brick and mortar store. Mine are expensive as I have the progressive, no line lenses. The no-lines are for vanity, but WTF....I'm worth it. :)

But Dennis, you would look FABULOUS in bifocals. They are all the rage for us senior gay boys! ;)
My glasses are problematic at best. Because I have a very strong prescription, I get the ultra dense and ultra thin lenses.
I also have bifocals, which I have made without lines.
My ophthalmologist said I should get the anti-glare coating on the lenses because it would help avoid problems caused by my slow-growing but sometimes-way-to-evident cataracts.
He also said I should get the lenses that darken in sunlight or get a pair of prescription sunglasses, also because of the cataracts.
So, to put it bluntly, my glasses cost a fortune. I thought about ordering on line like Wolfie does, but I have a hard time getting them fitted on my face and, if they are just a bit off, my vision is askew.
So, I have a new pair of expensive eyewear that nobody notices except me, cause the frames are somewhat limited once you rule out the things that cause my skin to have allergic reactions.
But, that's the way it goes. ;D

Well Mark I did get a script yesterday, but, I'm too lazy & cheap to do anything about it yet, but ya know it's inevitable I suppose........sigh :-[

I have to say that my eye exam was the least invasive and/or traumatic of my medical appointments this year. If that's all you have to fret about then I congratulate you.

I just don't like all of that bright light they shine into your eyes, after they dialate, for me it's kinds painful, and your'kinda blind for the rest of the day, I couldn't even drive home, had to bring Bob w/ me, and it was COLD and he was having chest-pains :(

it's the cheap readers for me so far too ;). I will say though that once I started using them, I have found I "need" them now. I guess my eyes got used to them and got a bit lazy. LOL However, I have always worn sunglasses (probably 30 pairs of sunglasses). So now, I often find two pairs of glasses on my head. LOL
when i moved to SC and noticed my eyesight was changing, the ASO got me an optom appointment. The doc there tells me I did good to get to 48 before needing any glasses - and also to expect some more degradation as the next few yrs go by. ::)
this getting-older stuff is for the birds. LOL
don't wait too long to get glasses though, Den. If you can do something to improve your vision, to make it easier to see, to read, to drive, etc, then don't put off doing a good thing for your eyes. The more strain you put on them the worse they'll get. You've got to pamper them as they are getting older. ;)

We have a ass-load of eye-glass-places right here in ABQ, too many to even name, with eye- script in hand, I guess it's time to go shopping :D Thanks for all of your input & advice, I'll suck-it-up and go get some 8)

I have 20/18 vision but over the last two years, my eye pressure went over 23 and I was classified as glaucoma suspect. I now take eyes drops (1 drop in each eye every night). So far my eye pressure readings have dropped and stayed around 12. Everything else is fine.
I am due for my yearly eye exam again that includes the field vision test. I hope to continue to do well.

I like the idea off bifocals coz if they are on my face all day it cuts down on the opportunities to break or loose them. Though that's exactly what I did do to the most expensive pair I have ever owned.
Dennis----get out there and find a pair that your eye likes not just your pocket, it will be a lift. No grumps anti-vanity can end up meeting too much vanity.

Mark /jg---Darling's , nothing comes easy , And I was inwardly moaning about one eye being stronger.
I like wearing glasses at the moment I am sporting a pair that references East Germany @ 1970 found in a bargain warehouse in the fields off Norfolk £ 4.99 about $8.

I bought the frames on eBay :) Seriously, they were somewhat vintage-y but only about a decade old, still had the label on them as they'd not ever been worn. Then I took them to a good place locally for gradated bifocal lenses.

I hope they find out what's wrong with your right eye, or set you at ease that it's just age. I've been wearing lined bifocals for almost ten years. There was no learning curve, I was running up & down the stairs right away. Relatives with graduated lenses told me that they took some getting used to & they still have to be careful on stairs.
I get them tinted with the bifocal all the way across the lens. People tell me that they don't even realize I have bifocals unless I mention it. I used to get a blend of brown/yellow tint but realized it distorted color perception. Now I get a tan/grey blend & it's better.
