Immigration!

Greetings to all. I'm an italian gay and are positive since 2009. Are treated with atripla and my values are stable. I write because when I did the test and found to be positive I was going to move to London. I dreamed of learning English and living in U.K. but then I decided not to go anymore. Now, after four years, I'm moving to London and the dream is near. I believe that we should not give up on your dreams, otherwise you have the virus twice. But now that we are close I have some fears and anxieties. I do not know anyone in London and I have many doubts about how to handle my situation. Are not very clear information for those who want to maintain their health care at the beginning and ask for a gp in London as long as you do not decide also whether to transfer according to the job even health care. It 'a beginning, a new 2010 for me. I'll have to look for a job, a house and a school to improve my English but I have a point of reference since I do not speak English well again to ask for information. If someone can give me the answers I'd be grateful. I hope to meet many, make friends and why not fall in love! Love is missing from too. Sorry for my english, it get better soon. And good dreams at all. Viktor

Hi Viktor,

I am from Spain and moved here to UK october last year, testing positive january same year in Spain. Also started Atripla but then changed here in UK because resistance to efavirenz.
What you have to do is to go to the nearest sexual health clinic in your area, usually they are in Hospitals. They will you explain you anything and is nothing complicated or to worry about. For me was really easy (more than in Spain even the language barrier) and they gave me medication straight away, so I didn't have to go back to Spain for atripla any more.
To find a GP near you go to http://www.nhs.uk and write your address in "services near you: GPs"
Actually I get here much better care that in Spain, also they give me much longer medication supply and my doctors and nurses treat me really well so I am really happy with the health system here.
I don't see any problem or difficulty about having HIV and move to UK if you come from another country in the European Union.
