Title: risk assessment
Post by: MK231 on October 15, 2013, 08:19:48 pm
Hi,

I had a sexual encounter about 6 weeks ago.
We had anal sex together (me being the receptive) with a condom on and without ejaculation for 1 min. However, right before he put on the condom, he grinded the head of penis at my anus. I am afraid that some pre-cum might entered me...

I am very scared of getting infected...
am I at risk?

Thanks!

You did not have a risk for HIV since you used a condom for penetrative sex.

The risk factors for HIV are ...

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth
Very specific healthcare situations.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start.  As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than HIV.  Some of the other STDs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thank you so much for the quick reply!
I went for a 35 day HIV test along with other STI tests...should get the result soon...but I am very nervous right now...

hearing your answer makes me feel a bit better.
The person told me that he was tested the month before, but I am not sure if I should trust that.

An HIV test should be done 6 weeks after any possible exposure, however, you did not have any exposure, so no testing is required.
