WOW---A year came and went
« on: March 18, 2007, 12:02:05 am »
So yesterday was the one year anniversary of my diagnosis.  Can't believe it's been a year already.

What's really bizarre is I had thought about it earlier in the week, then yesterday, it never even crossed my mind.  Not that it necessarily should be dwelt on, but I think most people recognize the date when it arrives.

Anyway, what a crazy year it's been.  Having HIV has definitely caused me to learn a lot about myself, which is probably always a good thing.  Even if it's recognition of a "bad" thing or trait.

Having HIV has helped me focus on what I need and/or want out of life, in several different aspects.

Having HIV has led me to meet some incredible people, whom I would not have otherwise met...probably.

I am not around the forums as much as I was at first.  I thrived on being here, and was here for hours on end, every day, for several months.  In doing so, the rest of life was really put on hold, so I had to make some changes.

Not sure if there was a point here, just a bit of reflection I suppose...and a thanks to all of those whom I know I can call, email, or whatever if I need to talk.  Thanks for being there.

Hugs to all,

Shane

Shane, WOW!  I really didn't know it was that close to your diagnosis when we met in Montreal, and when we shared a flight back to the states, but now I realize it's been seven months since that happened! When I was first diagnosed, I thought time would drag on and on as I went lower and lower, but I came to realize that I was living year after year, and as time goes on I am more and more blessed to meet special people, like YOU! From what my West Texas women tell me, the years go by faster as you get older.

Best to you, and I look forward to seeing you again.

Hugs,
Creighton

I can relate to what you're saying. April 11th will be my one year anniversary.

HIV definitely puts your life in a different perspective, that's for sure.

Hey Shane,

Congrats on the anniversary. Yep, the first year is the worst.

One has to wonder if you are still the same shy young man I knew in Montreal.  ;)

I'm glad to hear from you. Check in from time to time sweetie and let us know how things are going.

HUGS,

Mark

Shane,

Congrats on the one year mark.  Wishing you the best for many more healthy years and less and less thought about this virus that has invaded our bodies.

Shane,
It's good to hear from you.  March '06 was certainly a memorable month for a lot of us, it seems.  It sounds like you're doing well, which is what's important.  If the first year is the worst, like they say, the coming years should be really good.  Like you, I've met a lot of great people here.  This HIV thing has made me re-evaluate my life and what's important, too.  Take care.

This virus brought us together, but it was our friendship that got me through this past year.  I love you more than chocolate........... :-*

Hi Shane!

I'm glad things are better for you now and I'm glad I've had a chance to meet you (even if I had to share lube flavored doughnut-holes with you).  I hope year 2 is even more productive and fruitful.

Thanks all for the nice comments.

God, Cliff, I forgot about those donuts.  LOL  That was a really great ride in the car, talking with you and Andy.

Mark, I didn't think I was that shy, was I?  hmmmm...   shhhhhhhh.  hehe

Basquo, it wasn't a matter of going to bed to early, but not getting up early enough to go to Quebec City...and maybe a bit of staying up too late for the booty photos.   ;)

Lisa, no need to say anything...you know the deal.   :-*

Alan, can't wait to see you again.  You rock and I love you to pieces.

and everyone else...thanks again for your comments and friendship, virtual or otherwise.

Hugs,

Shane
