Hi iam luis from Mexico.i have been surfing the web for 12 weeks.i have asked in many websites like thebody.com,medhelp.com and now here,i have spent many hours in internet,here i go,12 weeks ago i had protected vaginal sex with a prostitute,she provided the condom,she put the condom,5 minutes before i finished i heard a strange sound but i continued till the end,when i finished i remove the condom but as i was drunk,i didnt check if the condom broke,i didnt see blood also the condom looked ok,but i dont know if it was broken on the tip,i dont know if the condom driped,i just removed it and threw it in the trash,maybe the condom broke,i hope she know put a condom.So the first weeks i felt fine but at 7 week i found 2 lymph nodes in the left side in my neck,they are like beans,i dont know when they appeared,but they have been in my neck for 5 weeks!!!i have also a nasal congestion at night,sometimes appeare, sometimes dissapeared,those are my symptoms,i have felt fine but iam very worried,and yes,that was my first time,i lost my virginity,can you imagine this?my first time and i get hiv,i dont know what to do?iam going to get test next week,i f you are reading this,i hope you can help me,what are these lymph nodes?because i know they are lymph nodes,please believe me,iam not lying,what is this nasal congestion?i think is sinusitis but idont know,i dont have mucosity.tellme this sounds like ARS? i hope you can understand me and help me. i didnt check the condom this is my worst concern.Luis.

Luis, if the condom had broke you would have known it. Keep using condoms and plenty of water base lube.

As Rodney says, if the condom broke, you would have known as a broken condom is very obvious. Condoms prevent hiv infection.

Even if the condom did break, it would be highly unlikely you'd become infected from this one-time incident. Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus and more so from a woman to a man.

Along with reading our Welcome Thread and following the link to the Transmission Lesson (also available in en espanol), here's what you need to know so you can avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

If you decide to test over this incident, a test now will be conclusive as the hiv window period is three months. I'm fully expecting you to test negative.

Hi there.i have to say thank you.iam very worried,this is the worst time in my life,i try to think that iam going to be ok,but these lymph nodes are in my neck,i touch them all day,i read that lymph nodes can be like beans in their normal size but i also read that any enlargment is abnormal,i dont know what to think,i dont want to have sex anymore,please tell me,this sounds like ARS?is sinusitis a symptom of HIV?how is the HIV lynphadenopaty? i hope you can help me.

And therein is your problem, Luis!  Leave your darn lymph nodes alone!  You can make them swell up by poking and prodding at them.  I looked back through your thread here.  I don't see any real concern from an HIV standpoint.  As Rod said:  if the condom broke, you would know it.  Have you ever known a balloon to burst without you being aware of it?  No.  Because it completely blows apart.  Likewise, the condom.  Once it breaks, it becomes a town up mess that is easy to identify.

It sounds like you are dying of guilt and worry more than anything.  Do yourself a favor and stop scouring the internet looking for signs of HIV infection.  Follow Ann's advise and read through the Transmissions section.

OMG!! I have a little thrush in my tongue.
is it possible at 13 week have ARS?
Only five days to get test.
Can anybody tell me wath are my odds?
Do i have to get test also for STD not HIV?
 
I have to say that one of the lymph nodes has dissapeared
but i still have one in my neck.

Anybody can get thrush. Did your doctor diagnose thrush or are you trying to guess?
