Carpal tunnel release surgery... it rocks!

Tuesday afternoon I had carpal tunnel release done on my right hand at Georgetown University Hospital, and I have been in awe of how immediate the relief has been.  The discomfort of two 1cm incisions in my palm and my wrist are nothing compared to the stabbing pain and numbness that I continue to experience in my left hand.  Surgery started about 5pm, and after 7pm I was home typing.

My labs had been scheduled for a week from tomorrow, but we did them last week as part of my pre-surgical labs.  CD4s came back virtually unchanged from June, though the percentage was up to 41%  Still waiting on the viral load to come back by mail.

P.S.  One of the big pluses of care at a teaching hopsital is medical residents and med students.  My surgeon is an adorable redhead who makes me hard anyway, but his surgical resident and two students who were part of my surgical visit were H-O-T!  Once they got drugs flowing into me, I was apparently hitting on them quite shamelessly right up to when I went under.  The surgeon had to excuse himself before the procedure started for fear of having wet himself from laughing so much.  This should make for a fun suture removal with the resident next Thursday!

Good deal, David! Carpal is so common these days. Good to know there might be this kind of relief. Please keep us posted on how it goes.

Excellent news for you and for those who suffer from this. And hot students on top of everything else, (no pun intended). Uhmmmmmmmm.

Hello David,

While common, I've only known one other person, to have this surgical procedure done. They have been very pleased ever since !! Congratulations on your numbers also !! Great percentage !

Current Meds ; Viramune / Epzicom Eliquis, Diltiazem. Pravastatin 80mg, Ezetimibe. UPDATED 2/18/24
 Tested positive in 1985,.. In October of 2003, My t-cell count was 16, Viral load was over 500,000, Percentage at that time was 5%. I started on  HAART on October 24th, 2003.

 UPDATED: As of April, 2nd 2024,Viral load Undetectable.
CD 4 @593 /  CD4 % @ 18 %

Lymphocytes,total-3305 (within range)

cd4/cd8 ratio -0.31

cd8 %-57

wow, that procedure sounds great!  My left wrist is in terrible shape from years of guitar playing and doing labour work seems only to have aggravated it.  I'll have to see if I can get something similar done up here.  I can only imagine what the relief must feel like, right on man!

My father had it done last year in both hands and came out pleased.  Glad to hear you are doing well.
