Unless you've been having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse or sharing drug injecting equipment, you're probably worrying for no good reason.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hi All,

I could notnot post a new topic as i am new to this forum so my question is as the following please help me to get some responses for the members and experts :

I had my hair cut at a barbershop11 months ago and during that the barber CUT my neck! after 5 weeks and 3 days I got some symptoms
1- headache: mild and lasts for 3 days (without medication)

2- fever: mild and lasts for 3 days(without medication)

3- Sore throat: lasts for 3 days (without medication)

4-nasal congestion: last more than the 3 days

5- Then all the above mentioned symptoms disappeared and after 4 days I had a sore throat again with nasal congestion( No fever no Headache) but I did not receive any medication after 5 days I used antibiotics for 5 days and I am got much better.

6- one tongue pimple : white one. disappeared in 5 days
7- one pimple on my neck (red one) disappeared in 4 days .
8- Now after 5 months I had a sore throat again but this time ( Specimen culture) which came out saying that the reason behind my sore throat is : Gram Positive Cocci
Staph and Streptococci
I wonder if the above mentioned kind of bacteria has anything to do with HIV ?

Under no circumstances whatsoever can you get HIV from being cut at a barber shop.

Unless you're having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse or shooting up street drugs and sharing the needle with your barber, you're not going to become infected with hiv at a barber shop.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER GETTING CUT AT THE BARBERS, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

You have NOT had a risk for hiv infection.

If you feel unwell, see a doctor. Whatever is going on has nothing to do with being cut at the barber's.

Stop the drama, Van. You are worrying needlessly. There's never been a confirmed case of transmission in that manner and you are not going to make history by becoming the first.

HIV is a fragile virus and not transmitted through that very ordinary kind of barbershop accident.

You should be discussing any symptoms you have with your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV.

Thank you all for the info! I am happy with these logical answers.

But Just to know more about the HIV topic in general I have some questions in mind and wonder if you can answer them for example:

1- Do all HIV Symptoms appea all togather at ONCE or you get sore throat then flue etc!


2- Let's say that by chance happens a child bits an HIV person,s finger and a drop of blod went in his mouth " imagination I know" but will that be RISKY!

Again I am Asking To know more about this scary issues!

The second question happend to me !

One of my friends children bit my finger and a drop of blood went to his mouth! I am scared to death as after 4 weeks she dot Sore throat and fever, then after the fever disappeared she had flue! I am scared Please advise! This is why I am asking if all the symptoms appear all at ONCE! Please all if you have an idea bout it let me know!

When symptoms of seroconversion appear (they don't always appear) they come on all at once and they go all at once.

You never had a risk for hiv infection, so I don't know why you're still freaking out about this.
