Man boobs and low CD4 count.
« on: May 27, 2011, 11:49:43 am »
I've been living with HIV for nearly 10 years now and have never gotten really sick except for the day that lead me to go to the doctors and this is how I found out.

Anyway as soon as I started taking the medication and returned to the gym something really strange happen to my body. I all of a sudden started growing man boobs are as they're called in medical term gynecomastia. I had surgery to get rid of them but now my chest area look really weird. I have like quarter size nipples and not to mention I still feel uncomfortable taking my shirt off in public. I want to go back to the gym and try to work out and perhaps loose some of the fatty tissue still left behind but I'm afraid that it would come back again. Also lately my CD4 have been dropping. I went from 707 CD4 to now almost 346 CD4. My friend said the reason they dropped were because of the workout I did at the gym. How does one go about getting they're CD4 up? I eat right, I try walking, and I do very light workout...isn't this enough?

The only way to get your CD4 up is with medication.  Workouts do not cause CD4s to drop.  What did your doctor say about your CD4 drop, and what is your viral load?

As for your gynecomastia, I'm sorry to hear about that.  As far as I know, that's not related to HIV medications or HIV itself.  Again, what did your doctor say about possible causes?

Regards,

Henry
