Doc wants check ups every six months....
« on: November 01, 2006, 05:20:45 pm »
So, I am on Reyetaz, Norvir and truvada.  Have been for about 18 months now.  Been undetectable for the last 15 months.  No real issues.  I need to lose 20 pounds and quit smoking and my CD4 fluctuates from the mid 600's to the mid 400's.  I have been getting quarterly bloodwork for the last year or so, before that it was monthly since I started with a VL "off the charts" and a CD4 of 22.  Metobolic panel, BP, cholesterol, etc are all within the normal "healthy" adult range.  Even my testosteron is "normal" well, actually it is a bit high, but I have always been a bit overly sexual (hence here I am on this board)....anyway....

Now, doc says (highly recommended HIV specialist in the san diego area whom I like and pretty much trust) "if these numbers are good, I do not want to see you again for six months"  Hmmm, check up's every six months, I am not sure I am thrilled with that.  Makes me wonder if the insurance company tells him to say that or if he really believes that I am that stable.   What are your thoughts? :-\
The difference between an overnight and a layover is luck!

congratz on the great progress but every 6 months?  ???  ??? hearing that would give me weird vibes.  :-\  >:(  this is HIV ,one of the most devastating realities ever known to humankind.  >:( every 6 months feeds the 'manageable' notion.  :-\ i might eat these words sometime in the future but for now this is how i feel
