Self Realization and Happy Thoughts
« on: May 09, 2012, 12:40:59 am »
The other day I was having a down day.. kind of depressed about things and nervous about the future, but then it hit me...

Although I have HIV... I would rather be me with HIV than anyone else.

I kept thinking about that over and over.. and you know what.. It makes me feel so much better about life.

Money and material things are all nice to have, but I would never trade this life I have because it would mean trading the people that I love.

Plus.. I know that HIV doesn't define me. Anyone with the disease can still live a fullfilled life! Yes there will be hard times, but regardless of disease or not.. hard times will come.

The main thing that I wish everyone would realize is that "You are beautiful, you are loved, and you should love yourself"

that's a great attitude to have! ;D
I dare say that most people who have lived a long time with HIV or AIDS attribute their longevity to having a positive attitude.

I would rather be me with HIV than anyone else.
I would rather be me with HIV . . . than dead.  ;)
(since I've been close to dead and lost plenty of people, I know where of I speak  ;) )
leatherman (aka Michael)

We were standing all alone
You were leaning in to speak to me
Acting like a mover shaker
Dancing to Madonna then you kissed me
And I think about it all the time

WRD that's a great observation... And the leatherman snap-on as well.

I just got my confirmed dx yesterday, and yeah, good to read your perspective on it. I was feeling like I had lost my sense of me to this diagnosis. Still have lots to work out, but now I will always remember reading your post, your brain flash amid a depression, and will be able to do it thinking "I'm lucky to still be me."  8)
