personal milestone
« on: July 14, 2008, 10:51:23 am »
Hi Everyone

I just wanted to share with our global family a personal milestone. On Wednesday, the 16th, I turn 50 years old  ;D

I feel so blessed to have made it this far ! When I tested positive in 1985, I could have only dreamed to be able to reach this day. As we are all too aware, the prognosis back then was very bleak. I lost many dear friends to AIDS along this journey and to them I dedicate my victory over the odds and cherish their memory. I carry their spirit with me as reminder of the blessings I've received of good health and longevity.

Happy Birthday also to all the other July babies  :D

in Peace and Love

Happy birthday, old man!   ;)  Actually, 50 doesn't sound so old.  Like my hubby always says, we're now closer to 50 than 30 (yikes!).  Like the others have posted, here's to many more.

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes  :D

It's going to be a fun week. I'm seeing three operas this week at the Santa Fe Opera. I'll have a quiet celebration with my partner and friends on Wednesday.

(((((hugs))))) to all

Thanks gang for the birthday wishes  ;D

I went out with my partner and friends for dinner then off to see the Santa Fe Opera production of Billy Budd.

I highly recommend anyone google the lead singer named Teddy Tahu Rhodes. He stands 6'3" slim and totally buffed with a highly defined torso. He has a habit of appearing shirtless in Operas such as Streetcar Named Desire, Dead Man Walking and now Billy Budd.

Also, I am beginning to feel my age  :D but in a good way !

Thanks again everyone.

Cheers
Paul

Hey Paul,

A belated but heartfelt HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I haven't been to the Santa Fe Opera in years, but I used to love to go.

A toast to many, many more good times, youngun.

HUGS,

Mark

No birthday spankings from the stud, or just not telling?  ;D

If 40 vs 30 vs 20 was any indicator, I'm eager to hit 50 in under 7 years;  and I totally agree on carrying the memory of friends.  Yet, I prefer to look at milestones and achievements in life, rather than age.

28 February 2010 will mark thirty years since being diagnosed with hydrocephalus.
8 November 2009 marks twenty-five years as an Out Queerman---9 June 2004 marked over half my life Out.
4 September 2007 marked twenty-five years with the hivvies, while 10 Feb 2014 will mark living with Dx longer than living with them unaware.
Today is Day 8677 as a survivor of rape.

Measuring my life in those terms empowers me, while the common yardstick of time since birth does not.

Namaste,
David
