Support Groups in Austin/San Antonio area

So far looking in Austin I have only found 1 support group and it charges per session which is 1x a week. Does anyone know of any other groups that get together in this area? Maybe have weekly meets and or greets?

Sorry it is so short, really just a straight forward question though. A little about me: was diagnosed in October and have been on meds since December, as of now my CD4 count is 467 (I will find out the % when I go back to Dr.) and VL is UD, currently on Travada and Isentress. I have been having and still having the rollercoaster of emotions we all have, every morning I wake up and tell myself, I can do this, I will beat this, I am better than this and this is a wonderful day, 20mins later I am as low as can be thinking about about the future and what it holds, what about cancer? What about my family (I am 5 hours from them)? What about when I get old, IF I get old? What about if I want to me? What about my friends that find out at some point? and then a few hours later I am back up as high as I can be ready to take this on head first...My mother is my rock, we talk daily and I love her to death..but she is not a spring chicken..what about when she goes? Who will be my rock? What will do then? Who will have? ... I know I should not be thinking that far ahead and should be taking it day by day but we all know what its like when you first find out you are infected, the mind goes CRAZY with what ifs and whys...So anyways, hoping to find a group I can meet with, others like me who understand what its like, who I can be-friend and talk to...

I'm guessing you contacted The Wright House Wellness Center in Austin?  I believe they run the one HIV support group I am aware of in Austin.  They should also be able to hook you up with other resources that you may find beneficial:

AIDS Service of Austin may also be able to help too, but their primary focus is helping people access medical care, prevention programs, etc.

If it is any consolation, what you are going through, and all the questions you have, are what most of us have gone through when we were diagnosed.  You will sort it out, in time.  And fortunately, since there are so many more medications available today, there's an excellent chance you will have plenty of time.

I attend (semi-regularly) a support group here in SA. It meets at the Metropolitan Church on Myrtle each Sunday afternoon. It's a group of about 10 guys that get together and cuss and discuss. They also have a putluck dinner each session(which is why I go). You can call for more info. I actually havent been in awhile, but it was a nice little getaway each Sunday.
