Hi , I have had Church bells for 9 years now  :o

It has something to do with my meds ,  If I keep active it does not

drive me crazy !   If I sit and read in quiet it drives me insane .

I hope you fine peace with your noises , I fear they are there forever  ::)

Hi,

I also have the ringing in the ears. It's there all the time, some days, it's more noticeable than other days. Its referred to as " Tinnitus ".. You should try to see an ear nose, throat doctor., and let the doctor take a look at your ears. It could just be an infection in the ears, wax build up, or perhaps brought on by some medications.

http://ehealthmd.com/content/how-tinnitus-diagnosed#axzz2Neaazj1O

My tinnitus also  started a little over 9 years ago, and I still have it, and don't expect it to go away.  It started about 3-5 months after stating on meds. I was also on Dapsone for over a year. Dapsone has been known to possibly cause tinnitus.

What medications are you on, besides HIV meds?

Also a member of the hissing ear club.  Sustiva makes it a lot worse for a couple hours or so after I take it.  My NRTI's also contribute to it, but not nearly so much as the sustiva.  Had it for ten years now and have forgotten what total silence is like.  I've become used to it now.  Initially I thought I could not live with it, but like most obstacles, one somehow adjusts and keeps going.

i get this from time to time. Sometimes it will just happen especially if i have sinus problems or quickly turn my head, then goes away.  I hope it doesn't ever become permanent.  i took Atripla for a year.  I really do believe that drug causes so many problems.  The nerves in my feet, Causing ringing in folks ears, who knows what its doing to ones head.   I'm really glad i got off that stuff.

Atripla shouldn't be making you gain weight... at least as far as I know.

If you haven't already, try a strict diet of fruits and veggies coupled with aerobics and weight training at a gym as many days as you can go... if that's available to you.  The food gets really boring, but if you eat only when you're hungry it's not so bad.  I'm not genetically prone to weight gain, so maybe I'm lucky, but when I'm eating just fruits, nuts, and veggies and exercising a lot, the weight will fall off even skinny me.

Is there an alternative to Atripla for you?

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."
