New York gathering- Basquo's PHOTOS are in !!!
« on: January 21, 2007, 07:42:25 pm »
Tonight in New York, 7 of us got together for a gathering at John's Pizza place on Bleecker st., in Manhattan, a place highly recommeneded by Andy and rightfully so.

Before discussing the people I would be remiss not to note how delicious this thin crust, brick-oven baked pizza was...We had tomato, mushrooms, onions and other fine toppings and enjoyed it all with some pitchers of beer.

Creigton (Basquo) came in from Texas with his good friend Abbey as well as his buddy from upper Manhattan Brian...Joining the get-together were Andy Velez, Alex (allopathicholistic - hope I got that right) and Johnny (alisenjafi) and myself.

We had great food (again highly recommended to New Yorkers and visitors), fine beer and fine conversation...It was lots of fun.  Afterwards we headed up to the LGBT center on West 13th st. and afterwards said bon soir to Andy who walked home and the rest of us took the train uptown and to Queens.

A fine time had by all in our mini-AMG New York style !!!

John's Pizza is quite good on Bleecker.  The also have a branch in an old church up near Time's Square.  I know of a better place in Brooklyn though :) also cooked in a brick oven, plus it's right under the Brooklyn Bridge with a delightful night time view of the sky line.

Yah, we had a delicious time both literally and figuratively. It was very sweet to bask in the good humor and good spirits which abounded. Creighton's good friend Abbey is a delight and super cute and it was great hanging with all of the guys.

We didn't have a lot of time together but to quote an old movie, "it was choice."

Cheers,

And you made me think of Chinese food. :)  ??  Back when I lived on Morton Street, the extension of which ends up on Bleeker (1989-199?, my dates for this) there was a Chinese restaurant on the corner, China Taste, which I went to for their lunch special each day.  The window looked onto John's Pizza.  There was/is also a great Italian bakery going east as well as Zitto's for bread.  Grandpa's (formerly, of Munster fame) was across the way.  Yes, food connects me with life.  Win

And you can get Italian sausages (Fsomething, I think).  :)  For meat, go west but don't cross Seventh Avenue South.  What were we talking about?  It's the Proust problem, I suppose.  Win

This trip was for Abbey's birthday, which is today, so HEY HEY HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABBEY!

Here's a pic; Abbey took more after after Alex arrived ( and he is VERY cute ) so I'll post some as I receive them. Andy not only suggsted a great restaurant, but everyone chipped in and bought Abbey & I T-shirts from John's on Bleecker!  We will post those pictures as soon as we rest up and pose!

Thanks again to everyone who made this one of 5 highlights of my trip to NYC!

GODDAMMIT!  I have resized this picture 8 times and still it is too large! F!!!!
