I need an answer
« on: March 15, 2010, 08:39:13 am »
Hello
I am so scared because i had sex with a prost and i don't know her hiv status. I had an massage on the back, then i had protected oral sex for 5 sec, and then protected vaginal sex for 15-20min. The condom didn't broke!! then i lost my erection and hand jobbed me without a condom for 5min. Before hand job she put her hand in the genital area to see if she finished. she did. Now i'm afraid that when she done that some of her vaginal fluid remained on her hand and give it to me by hand job. After 2 weeks i'm still scared that i might be hiv infected!!!
I had no open wound on my penis, i didn't see if she had open wounds on her hands, and i didn't see blood on the  condom.

1 - Should i get tested?
2 - What is the difference between HIV subtype B and HIV subtype F?

Thank you all

Newbie,

You didn't have a risk for hiv infection and you don't need to test over this incident. Even if she is hiv positive and even if there were vaginal fluids on her hand, you didn't have a risk. Hiv is transmitted INSIDE the human body, not outside. It's a very fragile virus and small changes in temperature and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER THIS SPECIFIC INCDENT, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Any second opinion? Is subtype F more contagious or easy to catch?

You're not listening. The matter of subtypes is totally irrelevant in your situation because nothing you did has put you at risk for HIV transmission. You can accept that or not, but that is based on HIV science. You're running it all through on fears and anxiety. You did not have a risk. Period. End of story.

Re-read what Ann has said to you.

Hy guys, thanks for previous answers. I don't know how to accept your answers because after 3 weeks i have a lots of lymph nodes swallowed in my neck(i can feel them) an one in my groin. I am so upset. I will test next week with PCR test because i can't take it any more. If i test with Elisa at 4 weeks and maybe i test negative, is this a good sign??

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Those tests are a waste of resources. You didn't have a risk for HIV. We've already told you that. The PCR was never designed to be a diagnostic test.

You need to give this issue a rest and get on with your life. There really isn't anything more we can do for you here.

Mr Andy I've been operated today for a pilonidal cyst. If i were infected with hiv for a month in the acute phase is my healing affected? Could i develop an operation infection if my CD4 are low? Thank you very much.

Newbie,

You did not become infected with hiv during your incident with the sex worker. Nothing that you did or was done to you was a risk. You really need to let this go and get on with your life.

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Hello again
today my blood test came back.
i tested pozitive for hep B and Cytomegalovirus.
i tested negative for hiv at 26 days. (same tests)
The hep B i got it from that sex worker i slept with and now because my lymph nodes are swollen(neck + groin) i think i might have hiv too.
My Questions are:
1. How many times hep b is more infectios than hiv?.
2. What are the chances of getting hiv and hep B altogether?
3. how precise is the elisa test and rapid hiv test at 26 days?

You don't seem to believe anything we've told you. You didn't do anything that put you at risk for HIV. There is no need for HIV testing. Of course you tested negative since you weren't at risk.

The issue of Hep B and anything else are irrelevant in relation to your HIV status.

You're on the verge of getting a Time Out here for coming back repeatedly over a non-risk incident.
