Hello All,

I am a recent member to this forum. However I have kept reading a lot of the messages posted.

My Situation:

Germany: Was on work there. Have been with roughly 43 - 50 different sex workers. Always have had protected insertive sex with condoms , I have always taken care of that issue during insertive sex. 2 cases of oral sex with out condoms. Last episode was August 23rd 2006. I have already submitted my blood sample for analysis. Will get my results by Jan 2nd 2007. I have not experienced any ARS symptoms whatsoever.

I am really freaking out. Just need some statistical estimtes as to what would be my chances of contracting the disease.

Thanks in advance for your support.

There are no statistical estimates for receiving a blowjob, because receiving a blowjob is not a risk of contracting HIV. You do however have a risk in contract other STDs.

Statistically nil because, as Rapidrod has already pointed out, condoms offer effective protection from HIV. Being sexually active you should be getting a sexual health checkup no less than yearly because some STDs can be transmitted via unprotected oral sex. Early detection makes them easier to treat.

Try to relax a bit as the 2nd draws near.

I agree with what you have been told, but I also want to mention that anyone who's sexually active ought to regularly have a full STD panel done. Other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV, so it's wise to get it done at least annually and every six months is even better.

Good luck with your HIV test which I certainly expect will be negative based on what you have reported.

Cheers,

Dear All,

First of all WISHING YOU A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR

I have got my results in today and they were negative.
They had done the ELISA TEST, RAPID TEST and Western BLOT all three have confirmed that I am negative for HIV. My last exposure was August 23rd 2006. I had given my Blood samples on December 21st 2006. Do you think further testing is warrented. I am also going in for the full battery of STI testings other than HIV.

Dear Ann

Your caution about using condoms everytime is really true

No more HIV testing is needed, the negative is definitive.  I am not sure why they did a Western Blot with a negative ELISA, though.  Anyhow, you are negative.  If you haven't gotten tested for any STIs, you should--they are much easier to get than HIV.  What Ann says about using condoms each time and getting regular sexual health checkups is very true.  You should get that done at least once a year anyhow.

Hey All,

I will be getting married on 5th April 2007. I had previously posted in the forum but cannot fnd my thread right now.

I was in Germany last year and during this period I have had numerous sexual encounters with sex workers all of which have had protected Vaginal and Anal sex and 2 instances if unprotected Oral Sex. I have done the HIV test at 120 , days using standard EIA and Rapid Elisa. at 135 days I did the test with the Abbot Axxsym HIV combo tes which detects the P 24 antigen and anti HIV 1 and anti Hiv2 antibodies. I repeated the test at 168 days with the same MEIA and CMIA and testes negative. I did a VDRL test at 170 post exposure. I have been Vaccinated for Hep B and during this vaccination or before it I have never been exposed to HIV in any for I wias 17 at that time. I am 28 now. I will be doing an STI test. Wanted to know the time periods for Hep A, C and HSV1 and 2 and HPV.

What are the requirements for Late sero conversion. Some docs say that there are cases of sero conversion after 6 months and some people have sero converted after 1 year. All these make me feel kind off stressed out. I some times feel I should put off my marriage for some time. After my last sexual exposure which was on August 24th 2006 i have abstained from any sex what so ever.

Please do send me in your suggestions, I dont want to infect my girl friend , I have also talked to her over this issure. She says that I am paranoid. Need help.

Regards
Sam

Sam,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

You have already been told that you are reliably and conclusively hiv negative. You need to continue using condoms with your girlfriend until such time as she has also tested conclusively hiv negative.

ok! I am sorry for what I have said.

I need some questions to be answered:

1) There are documented cases of seroconversion after 6 months..........Do you know why these people sero converted after 6 months

2) There is also a case that there is seroconversion after 1 year ?Why

3) Do i do a DNA PCR Test at 180 days post exposure??

I am saying all this coz you guys need to check a site called www.youandaids.org and log in to the consultation room. The frikkin doc says we need to test at 3,6,9,12 months after a risky exposure.

The Question and the doctor's answer

I guess some one should stop them from spreading false messages they are an ASIA centric AIDS organisation.
This response only elevates anxiety levels.

The thread for your reference

Dear Doctor,
In March 2006, I had protected sex with a woman of unknown HIV status. I tested negative on a Triline test in April 2006. I had written to you earlier asking for advice and you had stated that Triline method uses the antibody test and the same can be conclusive only after three months period. I took the ELISA test on 26 January, 2007 which is beyond the window period. The result of the test was negative.
I would like to have some clarification in respect of the percentage values referred in the report, which are as under:
Patients Value: 0.16 Negative
Test Value
<0.25: Negative
>0.25 to <0.35: Borderline
>0.35: Positive
What is the significance of these values and what is the interpretation of my value that is patients value 0.16. Is it normal to have this value?

Answer: Dear Enquirer,
In case of borderline values one needs to repeat the test after six months. You are not infected as per the reports. However if you had high risk exposure, you need to repeat the test at six, nine and 12 months to be sure. In the meanwhile have protected sex with casual and non-casual partners.
Best Wishes.

Sam,

You've had protected intercourse and you got a few blowjobs. You haven't had a risk. You have already tested conclusively negative. You can continue testing until the cows come home, but until such time as you have unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse with a person who has hiv, you are going to keep testing negative.

If you've ever bothered to read the Welcome Thread like you're supposed to, you will have read this:

Quote
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned.
