Im 16 and terrified.please help me
« on: April 29, 2009, 09:36:32 am »
first off, this has been bothering me for years. When i was about 5 ,i moved into a new neighbourhood.I didnt know anything about sex.my new friends(my new neighbours) who were for the most part the same age as me knew about sex from watching their parents pornographic videos.so they taught me about it.Then (we were kids, and i know now it was wrong) we'd go around the street and find condoms in the street, most of which i think were used.,then return to their house and inflate the condoms and re-enact what we saw on the screens with them.this went on until i was about 12 and happened quite frequently in the time period.I havent touched a condom since then- 4 years ago.I've had bouts of depression because I beleive i may have contracted HIV during this time.Everytime i feel sick or notice something unusual about my body i start freaking out and worrying about death. For example, today i noticed 2 or 3 little black dots had developed on my skin and im sick with anxiety.I cant go for a test without parental consent until im 18 but the worry is killing me.PLease help
i ofgort to add,im a female.

Nothing you did put you at risk of contracting HIV. Seek professional mental help for your phobias and depression.

As Rod has told you there was absolutely nothing risky for HIV transmission in anything you have reported. HIV is a fragile virus and not transmitted from used condoms or other environmental settings. The only confirmed risks for HIV transmission sexually are through unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse.

You seem to be in a mindset where you are worrying about just about anything you notice on your body. We can't help you with that. It's always good to check physical things out with your doctor. As for the emotional aspects of what's bothering you, if you are in school perhaps there is a counselor or other professional there who might be helpful. We can't address that need in this setting. A doctor may also be able to refer you to a service or other professional to deal with that need.

What I can tell you for sure is that you have no cause from what you have reported to be worried about HIV.
